If you weren’t tuned into the Ohio State vs. Penn State Saturday night then you missed a Big 10 classic. The Buckeyes reluctantly survived in Happy Valley in a nail biter of a game. As a college football fan, you really hate to see this ending that left the ball out of Trace Mcsorley’s hands:

SHEESH.

Certainly not a good look for James Franklin considering he has one of the most lethal weapons in college football at his disposal. This isn’t a discussion about the Nittany Lion’s meltdown. This is all about the Buckeyes.

Dwayne Haskins

Where to even begin with this guy. Currently second on the Heisman Watch, Haskins has boasted big numbers to start the season and it has been a spectacle to watch. I bet Shareef Miller regrets this…

Shhhh….

As far as the stats go, Haskins is currently in the Top 10 in the following categories:

  • 2nd in Passing Touchdowns (19)
  • 5th in Total QB Rating (188.8)
  • 5th in Adjusted Yards per Attempt
  • 8th in Total Passing Yards (1464)
  • 9th in Completion Percentage (70.8%)

Those numbers through five games are impressive to say the least. Haskins is on route to break J.T. Barrett’s single season record for passing touchdowns in a single season (35) The only downside Haskins has for the Ohio State program is that he could very well be on his way to the NFL after this season is over. However, Urban Meyer will probably convince him to continue his dominance for one more season. One would hope.

Urban L i a r

It’s been a tough start for Urban Meyer to say the least. Meyer served a three-game suspension for withholding information in regards to an ex-coach’s domestic abuse problems. Gonna leave it at that. There are dozens of recycled garbage articles and strong political takes about that situation if you’re into that sort of thing. You’re not gonna get that here though. What you will get is some 10/10 College Gameday signs about the whole situation:

Here’s a hot take for you: Urban Meyer’s suspension was the best thing that could have happened to the Ohio State Football program. Why? My favorite two words. Revenge Tour.

The whole world is tuned into Ohio State games just praying that they won’t win games and prosper under Urban Meyer. The Buckeyes have different plans. While Meyer served his three game suspension, the Buckeyes still managed to put up an average of 56.3 PPG and won by an average margin of 35.6 points. SHEESH. From the very beginning we could tell that this team meant business and sought out to silence the haters. And silence they did.

If OSU didn’t already have enough to bring them back to the playoffs…this should do the trick. Meyer is arguably the second best college football coach in the game right now and will continue his reign. Can he get his fourth title? Alabama will probably have something to say about that.

Dominant Crimson Tide

Now where does Alabama fit into this? If you haven’t noticed… Bama is good. I mean really, really good. Potentially the best team of all time, but we’ll save that discussion for another day. Alabama has mopped the floor with every opponent they’ve faced thus far with superiority. Vegas bookmakers are even scrambling to find new methods to cope with this Crimson Tide dominance.

Tua Tagovailoa is the best quarterback that Nick Saban has ever had in his tenure at Alabama. He’s currently slated to win the Heisman but Haskins has the opportunity to flip that script before the season is over. Does Ohio State have what it takes to knock down this team though? They have experience in beating a top contending quarterback with a heavier schedule overall than Alabama. It truly comes down to two things, Dwayne Haskins and the Ohio State Revenge Tour. Get excited CFB fans. Things are about to get real interesting.
