Heading onto the NFC, we have a division that may have the most rivalries in football. You are always going to dislike teams in your division more, but the fans of these teams are relentless towards each other. The Eagles finally have their franchise quarterback, the Redskins need to find someone to replace Alex Smith, the Cowboys are a few pieces away from a Super Bowl and the Giants need to realize that Eli Manning is about to retire. Which team will make the smart moves and which team will be without a Super Bowl for many years to come? Well, some of these moves might help these NFC East teams make the Super Bowl in the upcoming seasons.
Eagles: Draft Devin Bush (Linebacker, Michigan) – Although he isn’t the perfect prospect, he could develop into the perfect fit for the Eagles. The great thing about Devin Bush is that he can play either as an Inside Linebacker or an Outside Linebacker. He is very athletic and a was a big staple to the Michigan defense last season. He can blitz when needed, yet drop back in coverage. The one thing he could improve on is filling the right gap when trying to stop the run and not always bite on the play action. Jordan Hicks is a free agent and the Eagles don’t have the cap space to retain him. Having the flexibility that comes with Devin Bush is exactly why the Eagles need to draft him 25th overall.
Redskins: Draft Byron Murphy (Cornerback, Washington) – Josh Norman has severely fallen off since he left the Carolina Panthers a year ago. Even if the Redskins decide to keep him, they need another player on the other side of the field. Byron Murphy is a top 10 prospect coming out of the draft and would be a very solid addition to that secondary. He is great in coverage and isn’t afraid to hit the player carrying to the ball. The Redskins can wait to draft a Quarterback until 2020 because their defensive star is right here.
Cowboys: Sign Earl Thomas (Safety, Seahawks) – I’m sure just about all of you saw this one coming. Earl Thomas is asking for a heavy price, but the Cowboys are the one team that could bite. The Cowboys are only a few players away from making a real shot at a Super Bowl. They need a safety pretty badly, so getting Earl would be the difference maker. When healthy, he is a top safety and would elevate the entire defense in Dallas. He is Dallas’ best shot at a Super Bowl.
Giants: Draft Dwayne Haskins (Quarterback, Ohio State) – Dwayne Haskins is now being projected as the 2nd or even 3rd Quarterback drafted, which is beyond ridiculous. Now, I don’t think that Haskins is the best Quarterback prospect in recent years, but he is good enough to take a strong team to a Super Bowl. He should’ve won the Heisman trophy over Murray, but didn’t because he doesn’t run the ball all the time. Dwayne Haskins is smart, accurate and could be the next franchise Quarterback headed to New York. Move aside Kyler Murray, it’s time to let the real top Quarterback of the draft have his spotlight.
