The deep threat that all of us eagle fans have been wanting for a very long time has finally flown back home. News broke Monday that the Philadelphia Eagles have traded for him and a 2020 7th round draft pick while sending a 2019 6th round draft pick. There is a split between some fans that this was the right/wrong move to bring Jackson back. As Eagles fans, we can remember how electrifying he was with his play on offense and especially in the return game- just look up miracle at the Meadowlands 2.

Now, I am one of the fans that have been saying since middle of last season, when his name was being floated around at the trade deadline, to get him back to Philly. I even was hoping he came back to Philly before signing with Tampa Bay. Let’s be honest Philly fans, we haven’t had a deep threat guy since he left. Before you come at me with the “Well we had Torrey Smith on the super bowl team.” argument, Ya sorry guys he was garbage. Dropped balls and even DeSean’s worst season was better then the season Smith gave us.

Some of the fans that are against this move keep saying he was a headache when he was here. Ok that I could agree with, but now he is older and you really haven’t seen much of his antics like you did when he was younger. Maybe he knows at 32 he only has a couple more years left. Plus, with a locker room like the Eagles have, I think will help keep him in check. They have a lot of vets like Malcom Jenkins, Jason Peters, Chris long, or even head coach Doug Pederson that can keep him calm and in check.

Also this move helps a lot of players on the offensive side of the ball as well. It gives Carson Wentz a legitimate deep threat that he can just throw deep and even if over throwing him can catch up to it for the catch. It opens up Alshon Jeffery from being double team because if you let DeSean run free, he will burn you every time. The Safeties on defense will be more cautious of coming up and covering Zach Ertz and Dallas Goedert so the will improve their output as well, even though I can’t think how Zach Ertz can top the season he just had. The running backs have to be happy to. This should help keep safeties a little more off the line and help open holes by not having them in the box.

So in closing, even if he acts up just a little, I’m still ok with this move because look at his stats. Even after he left Philly he still average over 17 yards a catch, minus his first year in Tampa Bay. I think being older now he will be more mature. Also he has a coach who’s a players coach unlike Chip Kelly was. So to me everything points up and hopefully deep into the end zone with a few touchdowns by D-Jax. Until next time its your good friend Jimbo signing out.
