The Brewers have a record of 13-10 after facing off against the Cardinals and Dodgers for the second time this season.

Vs Cardinals

April 15th-17th
1. Win 10-7
2. Win 8-4
3. Loss 6-3
The Brewers managed to maintain the overall series advantage over the Cardinals, with a  5-2 record. Brandon Woodruff pitched well against the Cardinals in the second game, going 5.2 innings with 6 strikeouts, 2 walks, and 2 earned runs. Despite allowing several runs in each game, the Brewers have been able to win games due to run support, thanks in large part to Christian Yelich. Yelich had 11 RBI and 4 homeruns for the Brewers in this series. Yelich has hit 8 of his 9 homeruns this season against the Cardinals.

Vs Dodgers

April 18th-21st
1. Loss 3-1
2. Loss 5-3
3. Win 5-0
4. Loss 6-5

The Dodgers got the best of the Brewers and now have an overall record of 4-3 against Milwaukee this season. Christian Yelich couldn’t stop hitting home runs, but that didn’t stop the Dodgers from hitting 6 of their own. Josh Hader, who was phenomenal in the first week of the season with 4 saves, gave up late inning home runs to Kiki Hernandez and Cody Bellinger. These would ultimately become the game winning runs scored for the Dodgers in games 2 and 4 respectively. Eric Thames has been making a case to getting more playing time as he’s helped bring the Brewers back in two games this series: tying the game with a 2 run homer in Game 2 and tying things up in Game 4 with a 3 run shot. Chase Anderson returned to the Brewers’ starting rotation during the third game of the season, going 5 innings, striking out 5 batters, and walking 2. Chase held the Dodgers in check, giving up no runs in an excellent pitching performance.

Biggest Takeaways

Don’t pitch to Ryan Braun when he has 2 men on base. All 4 of Braun’s home runs this season have come with 2 on base. With one man already on base in the third game against the Dodgers, Yelich was walked with 2 outs to bring up Braun, who proceeded to hit a three run shot. Mistakes were made.

The Brewers pitching. At times has been excellent, and others not so much. Corbin Burnes has been sent down to AAA and Freddy Peralta is currently on the IL. Former Brewer Gio Gonzalez has opted out of his contract with the Yankees (who have a little time to re-sign him) and somehow Dallas Keuchel is still a free agent and could prove to be a great signing for the Brewers.

The Struggles for Jesus Aguilar and Travis Shaw continue, as both players are still batting under .200. Shaw got 4 hits, but struck out 9 times in the 7 games vs the Cardinals and Dodgers. Jesus Aguilar had similar troubles, managing  only 2 hits and striking out 8 times.

Christian Yelich has become a early season MVP favorite, hitting 8 long balls this week against the Dodgers and Cardinals, and 13 overall homeruns so far this season.
