Since opening day (3-28-19), the Brewers have a record of 8-2. The Brewers’ first three series have all been against division rivals. Roughly a week in, it’s been impressive to see how the Brewers have started off their 2019 season in such important games.

Vs Cardinals

March 28th-31st
1. Win 5-4
2. Loss 5-9

The Brewers came away with three wins in four games against the St. Louis Cardinals to start the season. Christian Yelich was red hot for the Brewers, hitting home runs in four consecutive games. Brewers closer Josh Hader was also a major contributor, earning two saves and 7 strikeouts, including throwing an immaculate 9th inning on March 30.

@Reds

April 1st-3rd
1. Win 4-3
2. Win 4-3
3. Win 1-0
The Brewers’ pitching was excellent against the Reds, especially Freddy Peralta’s work in the third game of the series. Peralta pitched eight innings, allowing just two hits and striking out eleven batters. Orlando Arcia helped the Brewers take Game 3 with his first hit of 2019 being a three-run home run. Josh Hader added two more saves onto his already impressive 2019 season, along with three more strikeouts.

Vs Cubs

Vs Cubs April 5th-7th
1. Win 13-10
2. Loss 8-14
3.  Win 4-2
The Brewers and Cubs put up a home run show in their first series of the 2019 season. The two teams combined to hit 17 home runs, eight for the Cubs and nine for the Brewers.

Biggest Takeaways

Christian Yelich and Josh Hader have been the best players for the Brewers from the start of the season. Yelich hit his fifth home run of the season in Game 3 against the Cubs and Hader, in the same game 3, earned his fifth save of the season and now has 13 strikeouts on the season. At this point, Yelich is showing why he was voted the 2018 National League MVP.
