After a disappointing end to the Arizona Coyotes “Scratchin and Clawin” run to the Stanley Cup Playoffs, the Coyotes playing in the World Hockey Championship continue to make a difference.

A night after Oliver Ekman-Larsson scored the eventual game winning goal for Team Sweden, Clayton Keller got the scoring started for the US team against Germany. Down 1-0 midway through the first, Clayton Keller had a rising wrist shot tipped in front by James Van Riemsdyk. Keller is beginning to build some chemistry being paired on the third forward line with James Van Riemsdyk of the Philadelphia Flyers and Colin White of the Ottawa Senators. Keller has now scored two points (1 G, 1 A) in his last two games. This line will be looked to providing timely offense as Team USA moves on to the quarterfinals.

The Arizona Coyotes captain and Team Sweden’s star two way defenseman has continued to contribute on both ends of the ice during the tournament. Often times, being matched against the most dynamic scoring line of the opposing team, Ekman-Larsson has continued to blanket the opposition defensively night after night while providing much needed scoring at the other end. With the goal against the Swiss, he is now leading the star studded defensive core of Team Sweden with 4 points.

This is a bright sign for Coyotes fans all over. It has allowed each teams best players to continue to play hockey in the off season, and catch a glimpse of the best international players. It also makes you look forward to another type of post season hockey while waiting patiently for what seems to be a star studded draft.
