The eight time All-Star Vince Carter, better known as Vinsanity, has been in the league for 21 years. Next year will be his last year and I type this with sadness. One of the most brilliant dunkers in our lifetime. Carter is 6 feet 6 inches tall and plays both shooting guard/ small forward. It’s just appealing to me being that tall and to have the ability to shoot with such finesse.

Vinsanity-Announces Retirement

Vinsanity announced on “The Jump” he will be retiring next season and the 2019-20 season will be his last season as a player. He will be the only NBA player to ever play for 22 years. Incredible milestone to say the least. The farewell tours begin. What a sad moment as a fan of Carter and basketball in general. We will never see another Vince Carter in the NBA period.

Vinsanity-Raptors Era

Vinsanity

What can we say as spectators about Vinsanity in the Raptors era that hasn’t been said before? It has been decades of dialogue on how incredible this man was during the Toronto Raptors years. Carter joined the Raptors in 1999 and finish his career with the organization in 2005. He averaged 27 points with the Raptors. Vinsanity averaged 50 games in his first season with the Raptors. A great leader for the team. He was beloved in Toronto. My favorite Raptor memorable moment is Carter playing with his cousin the one and only Tracy McGrady. Family playing together is an unforgettable journey.

That is to say, till this day the cousins don’t get the credit they deserved as one of the best duo to ever play the game.

Dunk Contest

Carter’s most memorable moment would be the infamous Dunk Contest in 2000. In fact, if you are new to basketball I’m sure you have heard of Vinsanity and his spectacular show in the dunk contest. Thanks to YouTube, you can relive the moment over and over again. Meanwhile, let’s take a look at the show I mean dunk contest haha. You will thank me later. What an incredible moment for basketball in general.

New Jersey Nets-Era

Carter played with the New Jersey Nets from 2005-2009. Now, the Nets are known as the Brooklyn Nets. During his stint with the Nets, the Carter and Jason Kidd duo helped the Nets win 10 of their final 12 games. The powerful duo helped the team get the number eight seed in the Eastern Conference over the Cleveland Cavaliers. Unfortunately, the Nets got eliminated by the unstoppable Miami Heat team led by Shaquille O’Neal and a young fella you probably heard of him Father Prime, Wade County, and Flash, Dwyane Wade. The Miami Heat won the series in four straight games.

In conclusion, Carter will be never be forgotten. It’s unbelievable at age 42 the half-man/ half-amazing still has the athleticism and energy to play one more year. Thank you, Vince Carter, for blessing us with your heart, passion, and talent. Above all, 22 years of greatness.
