This past weekend questions were raised about Cris Cyborg after UFC 240 which was held at Rogers place in Canada. The fights started off rough but the Niko Price/Geof Neal helped to wake up everyone watching. Just in time to see, possibly, the last time Cris Cyborg in the UFC. Her fight against Felicia Spencer was the last on her contract. If that was the last time we see her in the UFC, then it was a good fight to go out on as she won by decision. With that being said, what’s her options and where can she end up?
Bellator
If Bellator was smart, they should make a hard run at Cris cyborg as a free agent. They need a big name to help strengthen the woman’s flyweight division. The champ for Bellator, Julia Budd, is 13-2. Her lone losses come from former UFC champ Rhonda Rousey and current champ Amanda Nunes. If they were to bring Cyborg in, she would help bring that division up to a co-main event or main event status if she fought Budd. She probably wouldn’t get as much money as she would get from UFC but at least she wouldn’t have the headaches that she has been reportedly having with Dana White.
One Championship
One Championship would be another good fit for Cris Cyborg after UFC 240. The past couple years they have been bringing in former UFC fighters like Eddie Alvarez, Mighty Mouse Johnson and Sage Northcutt. As of right now, One Championship doesn’t have a bantamweight champion in the females division. If Cyborg can make the weight, then it wouldn’t be a bad Fighter to build your division around. It is also consider one of the largest martial arts organizations. So they’ll have the money to give her what she wants.
UFC
And then there’s UFC. It’s well documented the bad relationship between Cris Cyborg and Dana White. Especially after her loss to Amanda Nunes. Dana White keeps saying Cyborg doesn’t want the rematch, Cris Cyborg says she does. It would be in the best interest for both parties to sit down and hash whatever issues they have with each other out. I tend to think Cyborg wants the rematch and Dana White is bashing her in the media, hoping to lower her asking price on a new contract. The thing is though, if they were to agree to a new contract with the rematch against Nunes, they will be setting each other up to make a lot of money off of that fight. Then think how much more money they could make with a trilogy if Cyborg were to win the belt back.
So where do I think ultimately shell end up? WWE at WrestleMania facing Rhonda Rousey. Ok ok, I know that’s not happening. In the end, I think Cris Cyborg after UFC 240 will end up back in UFC. Lets all remember that Tito Ortiz and the UFC reconciled so why cant Cris Cyborg and Dana White?
