Everybody talks about the best teams to never win a World Series, rightfully so. It has been plenty of outstanding teams not to win the October classic. We never talk about the teams that failed to make the playoffs. Although the teams did not make the playoffs, their record was postseason worthy. Here are my top three MLB teams.

1993 San Francisco Giants

The 1993 San Francisco Giants finished with a record of 103-58. They finished one game behind the Atlanta Braves, who won 104 games. In 1993 was Barry Bonds first year as a Giant. He hit, 336 with 46 home runs, and 123 RBI’s. Also, Bonds won the NL MVP that season. Third baseman Matt Williams added 38 home runs and second baseman Robby Thompson batted .312. The Giants pitching Staff was amazing. John Burkett and Bill Swift both won 20 games, closer Rod Beck added 48 saves.

1994 Montreal Expos

The 1994 Montreal Expos were robbed of a magical season, due to the strike in 1994. The Expos had an excellent team. Larry Walker and Moises Alou lead the offense. Both were batting over 300. Marquis Grissom was batting .288 and was an awesome leadoff hitter. On the mound, the Expos had Ken Hill and a young Pedro Martinez. The Expos were on pace to take down the almighty Atlanta Braves, they were up by six games before the strike happened.

1999 Cincinnati Reds

The 1999 Reds had power, speed, and defense. Cincinnati hit 209 home runs as a team, led by left fielder Greg Vaughn’s double-digit 45. Also, the Reds had two bench players with double-digit home runs in Dmitri Young and Jeffery Hammonds. Barry Larkin, Mike Cameron, and Pokey Reese all stole over 30 bases. Pete Harnisch led the Reds pitching staff with 16 wins. Their pitching staff was not that strong which probably what held them back. The Reds ended the season with 96 wins and still missed the playoffs.

There are a lot of teams that had outstanding records and missed the playoffs. These teams happen to be my top three MLB teams to stick out the most to me, having to see them play. Especially the 1993 Giants i went to a lot of Giants games that season. The 1993 Giants were special it sucked they could not make the playoffs.
