The Houston Rockets Get Liftoff By Trading for Russell Westbrook

Russell Westbrook and James Harden have been reunited. Not with the OKC Thunder but, The Houston Rockets. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports that Westbrook will be shipped to the Lonestar state in exchange for veteran point guard Chris Paul, first round picks in 2024 and 2026, also pick swaps 2021 and 2025. This comes off the heels of the huge announcement from last week that Paul George was being sent to the Los Angeles Clippers via a trade to form a dynamic duo with enigmatic Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard. You can expect Paul to be a short term guest with the Thunder.

OKC has blown up their squad which has centered around a stat heavy Westbrook the last few seasons and are looking to rebuild with the mass amount of draft picks they’ve recently received. Although a few might be sent to a team as a parting gift if they choose to move Paul. After all the Houston Rockets get a liftoff by trading for Russell Westbrook.

What Was Once Old Is New In The NBA

Trading Russell Westbrook

The more that things change, the more that they remain the same. The last time that Westbrook and Harden took the floor together was as members of the Thunder. Both Westbrook and Harden were burgeoning superstars. Harden was a sixth man waiting to earn a starting role. Westbrook although an all star was still living in future league MVP Kevin Durant’s shadow.

Flash forward to 2019 and a different story shall be told. Westbrook and Harden both have been crowned the leagues MVP. Westbrook managed to do the unthinkable by averaging a season triple double. Not once, not twice but an incredible three times. Not too mention that the leagues scoring title has been awarded to both twice. The biggest feat that neither of these two men have been able to accomplish is to hold the distinguished title of NBA Champion. Will these two former MVP’s be able to check their egos at the door and bring the Larry O Brien trophy to the Toyota Center? Will they finally get past the obstacle known as The Golden State Warriors? Tune in to find out! The Houston Rockets Get Liftoff by Trading for Russell Westbrook.
