Andrew Luck retired this past Sunday, and some Colts fans were caught booing as Luck left the field. Check out the story from Belly Up Sports own Mike Brown.

Now, I say some fans because I get it, not every Colts fan was at this particular game. This was a pre-season game, tickets were probably given away to someone, hey nothing wrong with that, I have been to a few for free as well

Breaking News Andrew Luck Has Retired

As fans around the country are attending Pre-season games or like myself involved in a fantasy draft. At 9:28 pm, Espn’s Adam Schefter sent out the tweet that shuts down the internet!

The alerts come out and people are going nuts! Alerts are flying across mobile devices, text messages amongst friends asking if this is true. Now imagine being at the game…

News Hits Lucas Stadium Andrew Luck Has Retired, Booing Begins

As we received the news everyone at the Colts vs Bears game at Lucas Stadium in Indianapolis gets the same alert and spreads like wildfire that Andrew Luck retired and Luck starts to run off the field the booing begins. Boo’s echoed through the stadium like one of the most hated people in America has entered the building

Disheartening! That is the only way I can describe it. Why would you boo someone who is retiring for physical and mental health? Someone who has fought for your team and fought through the pain and how you say thanks is by booing him.

How about stand up and say Thank you? Being understanding of the fact that a 29-year-old kid can not do this anymore? How about a simple slow clap as he walks across the field? No, you decide to tell this man, we hate you for wanting to take care of yourself and that you entertaining me is more important.

Support

Andrew Luck has had some great support from NFL players, basically scolding fans for the poor display of affection, including teammate T.Y. Hilton:

And by far this was my favorite tweet…

In Conclusion

My opinion on Andrew Luck’s retirement is that we as fan’s do not have a right to tell someone when they can call it quit’s. When your parent says its time for me to retire we do not boo them or say but you have so many years left. The fact of the matter is that football is a very physical sport and everyone’s body is different. I hope Colts fans can understand that and give him the goodbye he deserves.
