So I keep seeing people in many fantasy football leagues saying, ugh I do not want the number one pick. I decided to do a Fantasy Football PPR Mock Draft with the Number One Pick. After this mock draft, i felt it was actually not bad. I was pretty happy with the outcome of my team.

I needed a Fantasy Football site that would allow me to choose my pick, that being at one. The site I used was FantasyPros mock draft simulator. It is free to use, with some things you could pay for

This allows you to draft by yourself against the current ADP. The reason I like it is because the picks are quick and you do not have to worry about some guy who wants to pick a kicker in the first round to mess up the whole draft. I used basic ESPN rosters and PPR point system, 12 team league, 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 Flex, 1 Def, 1 Kicker and 6 bench spots. Your league may be different so you will be able to adjust the roster size to your choice as well as league size.

My Draft Grade: Fantasy Football PPR Mock Draft: Number One Pick

When you are finished drafting, draft wizard will give you your final grade, here is mine, and you can see my roster as well. I was very ecstatic to see that this team finished with an A!

The Draft Board

Here is the full draft board, remember i was picking at one. I am not adding the final 2 rounds , it was all defenses and kickers my least favorite.

Rounds 1-7 :The Starters

Let me break down my starting lineup and show you my thinking behind the picks.

1 Saquon Barkley/ RB/ New York Giants– As of right now, Saquon remains my number one. This could change with the Zeke contract, but I think there is too much upside here.

2.24 Antonio Brown/WR/ Oakland Raiders- This was a hard pick for me. I wanted a wide receiver, and have been going with Mike Evans. With Evans being carted off the field today, I just did not have enough info.

3.25 Marlon Mack/RB/ Indianapolis Colts- If I want to stick to my notion that Mack is in for a monster year, then matching him up is perfect with Barkley with a 1-2 punch has started my team perfectly.

4.48 Phillip Lyndsay/ RB/ Denver Broncos- Some people like to start 2 Rb, 2 WR, my plan is going 3 RB and 1 WR, and Lyndsay as my flex I feel puts me ahead of the competition. Some worry about Lyndsay’s injury. I don’t at all since it was his wrist and not in the legs or a reoccurring injury. Kind of like David Johnson had in 2017 and returning in 2018 quite fine.

5.49 OJ Howard/ TE/Tampa Bay Bucs– Now here is where I became bold and away from what I normally do. I would take my next WR, but the field is deep and I figured I could get one on my next turn, maybe 2 back to back. This was close for me between Evan Engram and Hunter Henery as well. I chose Howard because I feel with Bruce Arians now running the show, passing is endless.

6.72 Christian Kirk/WR/Arizona Cardinals- So I rolled the dice with a tight end in the last round and boom got my WR2. Kirk was on my draft board but I thought he may have gone higher than the last pick in the 6th round. I was quite happy pairing Antonio Brown and Christian Kirk as my 1 and 2.

7.73 Matt Ryan/QB/Atlanta Falcons-  If you read my article on waiting on a QB I discuss taking a QB in the 10th round, which is still my plan, but seeing what was on the board and how my starting roster was set, I decided to go outside my plan and take Matty Ice.  Of course, now that I think about it I could have gotten 2 more solid players, but to me, nothing more than bench players. I wanted to see how this would play out and again quite happy.

The Bench

These are guys obviously with question marks. Good backups. I noticed Kyler Murray ended up being the only Rookie I took this whole draft. Here is how my bench would look:

QB Kyler Murray-Some people are drafting Murray as a starter, I will play the wait and see and if it works out, then I am ahead of the game.

RB Latavius Murray – I feel Murray could have a bigger role with the Saints, besides someone needs to take some of Mark Ingram’s carries from last year.

RB Jerick McKinnon- Crowded backfield, but you do not pay someone $7.5 Million to just sit on the bench. Mckinnion should be coming off the PUP list soon, we will have to see how Shanahan uses him

WR Geronimo Allison- Geronimo Allison has been the talk at the start of camp. I feel he could flourish under Matt Lefleur’s offense, all depends on how many times Rodgers looks Allison’s way.

WR Kenny Stills- I was hoping to walk away from this draft without a Miami Dolphin, but someone has to catch the ball. With Fitzmagic looking good in camp, I feel Stills may be a deep, late-round find.

WR Jamison Crowder- Do not sleep on Jamison Crowder this year! Crowder loves to play the slot, and Darnold likes to throw there. There will be no Chris Herndon down the middle for 4 games. This could be big for Crowder. He let me down last year, but I am having the same excitement come back to me.

In conclusion, if I were to receive the number one pick this year, I feel there is a lot you can do with it. There are some very good finds and having back to back picks can make it easy to plan a little ahead.
