Monday Night Raw comes to us live tonight from inside the XCEL Energy Center in St. Paul, MN!
King of the Ring Begins
WWE presents to us, for the first time in nearly five years, the King of the Ring tournament. Despite no build and only a weeks worth of hype, this tournament could be one of the best (or worst) ideas WWE has made happen all year.
As of now, the two matches advertised for this weeks episode of Monday Night Raw are Cesaro vs Samoa Joe, and Cedric Alexander vs Sami Zayn. The two matches not advertised are Miz vs Baron Corbin and Ricochet vs Drew McIntyre.
This tournament is stacked, and anyone could win this tournament. WWE has pulled great 16-man tournaments off in the past few years, but none happened on the main roster. It’s something different that can make for some great matches. They could even weave storylines in and out of the tournament as well.
AJ Styles vs Braun Strowman For the U.S. Title
Last week, for some reason, Braun Strowman came to the aid of Seth Rollins, after his match with AJ Styles in the main event of Monday Night Raw last week. Styles challenged him to a match this week, and Strowman accepted.
The outcome of this one is obvious. The OC is going to get involved, giving Strowman the DQ win. This allows Styles to keep the belt, and keep this feud going to the next PPV.
Sasha Banks
Last week, Sasha Banks made her incredible return to Monday Night Raw, and the whole wrestling world is talking about it. First she beat down Natalya, then turned to The Man, Becky Lynch, and beat her down too. Banks received a ton of criticism over her chair shots to Lynch that seemed stiff. Lynch was very obviously legitimately kicking Banks during the beat down, and even tweeted this out:
Receipts are coming. A receipt is when a wrestler takes a stiff shot, then gives one right back. Banks seemed to be careless with her positioning and Lynch was hit in the back of the head.
The realism involved in this story in one week has already made this the hottest angle in the company. It almost feels as if WWE can do no wrong with this story, if they let these two do what we all know the can do.
