The Las Vegas Aces (19-9) and Connecticut Sun (19-8) will match up Friday night in the biggest WNBA game of the season. If you’re a WNBA fan, this is a can’t miss game. The WNBA showdown will be Connecticut who has the second-best record in the WNBA, and the Aces has the third-best, but only trail the Sun by half of a game.

Whoever wins tonight’s game will take the season series and the tiebreaker for the WNBA playoff positioning. This is big because whoever gets the top two seeds get a double-bye into the semifinals in the playoffs.

Las Vegas Aces

The Aces have won four straight games, and Liz Cambage has been outstanding in each game. Cambage earned a double-double in each of the four wins. She is averaging 16.1 points and 8.6 rebounds per game this season. A’Ja Wilson is now back from injury; this will be her third game since coming back. She is averaging 22.5 points in her first two games back from injury. Las Vegas is an excellent defensive team, they lead the WNBA in opponent field goal percentage and defensive efficiency.

Connecticut Sun

Connecticut Sun has been playing well themselves; they have won three straight games. The Sun are led by Jonquel Jones, who is averaging 14.8 points and 10.3 rebounds per game. Also, Connecticut has three other double-digit scorers, Courtney Williams (12.0), Jasmine Thomas (11.8), and Alyssa Thomas (11.0) pointer per game.

The Sun are not a bad defensive team themselves; they hold there opponents to just 42.9 percent shooting from the field. Connecticut forces turnovers and rebounds pretty well.

Key matchup

The key matchup in this game will be at the Center position. Liz Cambage and Jonquel Jones, two MVP candidates, will go at it. Jones is also a Defensive Player of the Year candidate. Whichever player wins this battle, i think their team will win the WNBA showdown. It will be a hard-fought battle.
