Can Dearica Hamby and the Las Vegas Aces survive in the semifinals? Well in yesterday’s game 1 of the semifinals the Aces prove themselves they can beat the Washington Mystics. With a two-point defeat, that shows you that Las Vegas can compete with the number one team in the league. Washington took the W 97-95. Can Hamby and the Aces survive in the semifinals?

Kelsey Plum

Plum had the best night of her career. Kelsey had the energy and was on a mission to prove everyone wrong. The way she played yesterday was unbelievable. We are seeing the explosiveness and the threat she can bring to the opposite team. Plum played 30 minutes and went 60 percent from the field. Plum finished with 9 assists, 7 rebounds, and 16 points.

In addition to bringing energy to the team. If she continues to play like she did yesterday the Aces have a chance to beat Washington. Kelsey had an incredible night from the arc with 66.7 percent from the three.

Dearica Hamby

The hero from Sunday’s game against the Chicago Sky did not perform offensively as she usually does. However, Hamby had an important role in yesterday’s game to defend/cover the top MVP candidate Elena Delle Donne. Hamby did an excellent job defending EDD and she rose to the occasion. A great challenge and not an easy one to cover the number one player in the league.

Hamby went 4-8 from the field and had a 50 percent field goal and not a great night from the arc with 33.3 percent. She did crash the boards with 8 rebounds and 3 assists. Hamby finished with 9 points for the night.

Three Key Players

The three key players in order for the Aces to beat the Mystics and make it to the finals are the following:

Jackie Young PG – needs to be a better facilitator and create plays for the Liz Cambage and the frontcourt. Young finished with 4 points and 5 assists.

Kelsey Plum Guard- needs to keep her energy going and continue to rise in the semifinals

Dearica Hamby Forward – needs to play better offensively and continue to crash the boards. Defensively she is doing great and continue to rise to the occasion and cover EDD.

Game 2 of the semifinals is Thursday, Sept 19th at 8:30 PM ET in Washington. Washington leads the series 1-0.
