The New York Yankees have seen quite a bit of success in 2019 and they seem to have met the expectations. But can they win the championship or will their issues finally take them down? This season no other team in MLB has lost more players to injuries than the Yankees. The injuries have been significant, they lost Giancarlo Stanton, Luis Severino and Gary Sanchez for long periods of time. They did get Stanton back this week and they hope some other players will return.

The replacements have done well for the Yankees. Mike Tauchman, Gio Urshela, and Cameron Maybin have been good surprises for them. They have seen quite a bit of playing time and probabaly will come playoff time.

They hope their young players can handle the pressure of the postseason because it is different than regular season play. The Yankees got lucky that they were able to have enough depth to navigate year-long injury bug and continue to be one of the hottest teams in baseball.

The Yankees are in a battle with the Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros for best record in MLB. This would give them home-field advantage throughout the World Series. They really need the home field advantage considering how well they play at home with 54-23 record and their pitching staff does well at Yankee Stadium.

The Yankees are not limping into the postseason but they had a long season. Anything can happen in the next two weeks. Though the Yankees do have a good team and plenty of postseason experience. The expectations vs reality for the New York Yankees.
