However, in 2019, Oakland A’s right-handed pitcher. Mike Fiers, has unleashed the latest trending facial hair look, in which the team dubbed the “Cinnamon Roll”.

Brian Wilson’s Beard


Brian Wilson became notoriously known in the Bay Area for his ferocious black beard. As well as his dominance on the mound, closing games for the San Francisco Giants.

During his seven-season in San Francisco. Wilson helped the Giants win two World championships (2010, 2012), was a three-time All-Star (2008, 2010, 2011), an NL Saves Leader (2010) and has recently been placed on the San Francisco Giants “Wall of Fame”.

Wilson even appeared in his own “This Is SportsCenter” commercial back in 2011, where he scared off two analysts, establishing the “fear the beard” trademark.

Jason Giambi’s Mustache

Not known mainstream around the league. But during the 2008 season, the New York Yankees had trouble staying in contention throughout the summer in their final season at the old house, when Jason Giambi and his new look took over The Bronx.

Giambi went on a tear that summer, slashing a .247/.373/.502 line by the end of the year, launching 32 home-runs and driving in 96 runs in his final season in pinstripes.

On June 5, 2008, Giambi came off the bench for Joe Girardi, launching a pinch-hit 2-run walk-off home-run off Toronto Blue Jays’ left-hander, B.J. Ryan, to give the Yanks a come from behind 8-7 victory with his perfectly groomed mustache by his side.

The “Giambino” would come through once more with that ‘stache in 2008, when he came off the bench again in the bottom of the seventh against Boston on August 28, launching a game-tying 2-run home-run. Eventually winning it for the Yanks in the bottom of the ninth with an RBI single.

2013 Boston Red Sox’ Beards

The 2013 Boston Red Sox team was one for the ages. Capping off a magical nine-month campaign with their 8th World Series title in franchise history. A year which saw multiple role players step up as a big-time contributor, including Mike Napoli, Jonny Gomes, and Koji Uehara.

Following the horrific events that took place at the Boston Marathon that year. The city of Boston was able to rally behind their beloved Red Sox and their furry beards as the Red Sox social media team even took the time to come up with names for each respective beard.

Despite the successes that these three facial hair additions brought to Brian Wilson, Jason Giambi, and the Boston Red Sox. Mike Fiers did not experience the same success. Surrendering three earned runs in just two innings in his start Saturday night in Arlington.
