Nobody expected the Dallas Cowboys to go undefeated. In fact, NFL fans expect Jerry’s squad to lose at least a few more during the course of the season. However, the one thing you can take away (on a positive note) in this one, is the fact that the defense continued to look forceful, not allowing a single touchdown all night to Teddy Bridgewater’s Saints.

The boys walked in to a playoff-like atmosphere in New Orleans Sunday night and held down the fort, despite Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott being held at bay by New Orleans’ defense.

New Orleans came into this one with the 30th ranked pass defense, giving up 19 pass plays of 20 yards or more in the first three games, going up against a quarterback whose opened the season with at least 30 points and 400+ yards passing.

Holding Ezekiel Elliott to 35 yards on 18 carries was a huge plus as well, as New Orleans looks to hold the fort down with Teddy Bridgewater until Drew Brees is able to return from injury.

A big key to New Orleans’ success against Prescott was the fact that they shed their cover 3 defense for a cover 2, catching the Dallas’ offense a bit off guard, with very little time to adjust.

“I think this was on us,” Prescott said. “I think this was about our lack of execution. There was a lot left out there, on my part and by the whole offense.”

Amari Cooper felt the effects of the Saints’ cover 2 defense, as the men in gold and white held the pro bowl wide receiver to 48 yards on 5 catches.

When asked if opposing teams might copy the Saints and use a Cover 2 zone to keep the Cowboys in check, Amari Cooper said “not if we exploit it.”

The offense was also undone by two fumbles, coming from Elliott and Jason Witten, while Randall Cobb also dropped two passes, leaving Dak to try and force things on his end in the passing game.

After three games of absolute dominance against New York, Washington and Miami, was new offensive coordinator Kellen Moore finally exposed by Sean Payton’s squad?

Moore’s play calling came into question throughout the night, as the former Cowboy quarterback decided to go with an unusually high amount of run plays in the first half, running the ball an unprecedented 7 times, while only throwing the ball 3 times on first down.

Despite the loss, the locker room remains focused and ready to go for their showdown with Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers next Sunday in “Jerry’s World”.

“I feel good about where we’re at,” Jason Witten said. “That’s a good football team. I think this team is gonna be a really good team…The teams that play in January, they’re the ones that continue to get better and learn from it. There’s still a lot of confidence and belief in this team.”

Are the Dallas Cowboys the real deal, or were they exposed on Sunday Night? Is Kellen Moore’s offensive strategy exposed or will Prescott shine at home? Let’s see how they do against Green Bay!
