Earlier in May, Jason Pierre Paul was involved in a single vehicle accident when his car hydroplaned into a ditch. The accident left Pierre-Paul with a cervical fracture in his neck that required a neck brace. At 30 years old the injury could have very well ended his season and even his career. But Pierre-Paul would not be stopped. When asked about the injury, Pierre-Paul stated “Well not many people come back from blowing their hand off either”. Just announced, he’s been activated from IR and WILL play this week. Only 5 months after fracturing his neck, Jason Pierre-Paul will be making his season debut.
In fact, JPP has stated he’s in the “best shape of his life”. He was showing off his abs in an instagram post a month ago. Since the injury Pierre-Paul has been working out independently both at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers facility. While the team was on a bye last week, JPP worked out at the facility and has had two solid days of practice in pads with his teammates. “He (Pierre-Paul) had a hell of a practice today” said head coach Bruce Arians Monday in regards to JPP’s first practice back. Buccaneers teammate M.J. stewart also stated “having him back out there, it’s a huge boost. JPP is that vocal guy on the defense”.
The Buccaneers will need that vocal leader. They are looking to bounce back after dropping two straight games. They will look to right their ship against the Tennessee Titans. JPP could find himself in a favorable matchup against a Titan’s offensive line who has given up a league-most 31 sacks and 4.4 sacks per game so far this season. While Bruce Arians has stated JPP “is not playing 90 snaps” he’ll be a huge boost to a defense who’s only had 3 sacks in its last two games.
