Well fantasy race fans its finally over for this season anyways. The stress of picking lineup after lineup for a super speedway wreck fest. I mean while it’s fun to watch and honestly that was one of the best Talladega races I’ve seen in awhile it wrecked my fantasy lineup along with a lot of playoff driver’s days. So, this weekend at Kansas each team has a lot riding on the line for multiple drivers as well as maybe your individual fantasy league.

Starting Lineup

  • Martin Truex Jr.
  • Kevin Harvick
  • Kurt Busch
  • Jimmie Johnson
  • Chase Elliott

Kansas Speedway Lineup

Kansas Drivers

Martin Truex Jr. started the playoff’s hot winning the first two races. He hasn’t fell off much either until last weekend posting a seventh place finish at the Roval, and a second place finish at Dover. Not to mention in the last thirty three intermediate tracks like Kansas MTJ has the best average finish. He has averaged in the past five races here though a finish of around sixth so look for Martin to provide some solid points this weekend for you.

Kevin Harvick is arguably the second best intermediate track racer behind the man I just listed. Kevin ranks second in average finish in the last thirty three intermediate track races, and in the past five races at Kansas he has finished no worse than thirteenth with one win. Along with the one win he has led the most laps among active drivers with a total of three hundred and six laps led. NASCAR’s website has Happy projected to bring in 35.9 points this week. I think he achieves that if not exceeds that limit at Kansas.

Kansas Driver to choose

Kurt Busch had an early exit from playoff racing, due to some bad luck. I think Kansas could be the track though he gets back into his consistent top ten finishes. His worst finish in the last five races here is nineteenth, but he has finished as high as second. So if the elder of the Busch brothers is going to get his groove back look for it to be this weekend. I think he easily grabs you twenty five to thirty solid points this weekend.

Seven time champion Jimmie Johnson has three career wins at Kansas. As of late though he hasn’t exactly had the best of luck at Kansas. I think though he is one of the better non playoff drivers to choose from this week. He has been showing better speed and consistency at the intermediate tracks as of late. I think Jimmie is a solid start to really grab you those twenty to twenty five points you could need after a horrible week at Talladega.

Chase Elliott

My garage driver has suffered absolutely horrible luck in the round of twelve. After having motor issues at Dover, then getting caught up in the first of three big wrecks at Talladega. Chase is looking at a twenty two point deficit to get back into the top eight and contend for a championship a little bit longer. Chase obviously won at this race last year, and does have the potential to do that again. Since 2017 his worst finish at Kansas is twelfth. I think with Alan as his crew chief and if Chase can get up front he has the potential to stay up front and grab easily the win and thirty five fantasy points.

Kansas Unexpected Drivers.

Dark horses Kansas

Two other drivers who are now on the outside looking in are drivers I think you really need to watch. Alex Bowman in three races here has finished around ninth which is better than his HMS teammates. He also has really been a lot more aggressive in the playoffs something we haven’t seen before from Alex. Another driver who did get some good news this week Clint Bowyer. Is like Alex, and even Chase heading into this weeks race at Kansas on the outside of the top eight. While Clint has never been to victory lane at Kansas the chance at a championship can turn even the calmest of drivers into aggressive and pushy drivers so look for Clint to maybe take the momentum from a new contract and ride it to a top five finish.

Conclusion

Last Years winner Kansas
KANSAS CITY, KS – OCTOBER 21: Chase Elliott, driver of the #9 Mountain Dew Chevrolet, celebrates with the trophy after winning the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Hollywood Casino 400 at Kansas Speedway on October 21, 2018 in Kansas

This weekends races are sponsored by the lottery and the Hollywood casino. Arguably the most important race of the season for the cup series. The names are kind of ironic though, because it is named after the state lottery and a gambling facility. Which is exactly what a good bit teams and drivers will be doing this weekend: gambling. They will be gambling on pit strategy, field positions and even possibly car set ups. So, fantasy drivers could be the usual ten or so who do good at tracks like Kansas or it could be a few different and fresh faces.

One way or another I think if you stick with the lineup or even throw some of the dark horses you will bring in a good solid amount of fantasy points. Also while your here and reading remember after this race you have until the green flag drops at Martinsville to get entered into our final four contest in the forum. We shall see what happens race fans!
