With the NFL Trade Deadline on Tuesday, October 29 at 4 p.m., teams have already been busy trying to make trades.

For the first time ever, the New York Jets and the New York Giants have made a trade with one another. The Jets have traded defensive tackle Leonard Williams to the Giants for a 2020 third-round pick and a 2021 fifth-round pick.

This trade was a steal for the New York Giants. I don’t think General Manager Dave Gettleman would have made this trade if he didn’t believe if he wouldn’t re-sign him at the end of the season.

Williams was a first-round pick in the 2015 NFL Draft and he was drafted sixth overall. He is 25 years old and the New York Jets did not use him properly.

Their fan base is happy that he is traded and they thought Leonard Williams was overrated. But the New York Giants will probably utilize him better.

So far this season, Williams has played in seven games and he has recorded 20 tackles and Leonard Williams also has one pass deflection.

In 71 career games, he has recorded 240 tackles and 32 of them have been a tackle for loss. Williams has recorded 17 sacks, two forced fumbles, four pass deflections, and one interception in his career.

Leonard Williams Traded

The New York Giants already have rookie defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence and B.J. Hill on the starting defensive line. Leonard Williams will probably start in place of Dalvin Tomlinson.

This team is still lacking a pass rush, but maybe Williams can cause more problems. They are usually solid in the rushing defense department. But the Giants can not get off the field on third downs.

General Manager Dave Gettleman is trying to fix this roster as best as he can. This team is rebuilding. Gettleman also traded for another first-round defensive talent in the offseason in Jabrill Peppers from the Cleveland Browns.

Peppers has actually played well. This team needs more help at safety and at linebacker.

Speaking of a linebacker, Alec Ogletree is on the trading block. Cornerback Janoris Jenkins and left tackle Nate Solder is also on the trade block.

Dave Gettleman is trying to get as much draft capital as he possibly can. They currently have 11 picks in the 2020 NFL Draft.
