Another week has passed in the NFL and one of the most interesting storylines is the return of Tyreek Hill to the Kansas City Chiefs. Hill returned from injury but that’s not the story, it’s should he be allowed to play in the first place. Tyreek Hill has an interesting offseason with allegations of abuse. Charges were dropped and Mr. Hill was allowed to play again. In a few weeks, Kareem Hunt will join his new team the Cleveland Browns after serving his suspension after violating the NFL conduct policy. What side are you standing or kneeling behind?

Kareem Hunt was shown on video kicking a woman in a hotel room. Both Hill and Hunt get the opportunity of employment but should they? Reporters and fans all over the country debate whether or not these men deserve a second chance. Forgiveness is one word I hear a lot and I agree but why do some men not get forgiveness?

Yes, I am talking about Colin Kaepernick, before you exit out if this article hear me out. One, I felt Colin knew his time as a solid quarterback had come and he needed a way to stay relevant. Two I do not support kneeling when we should rise when the National Anthem plays. With that being said you can’t tell me Kaepernick does not deserve a second chance. I understand you should not bring political views into sports but would Muhammad Ali be Muhammad Ali if he didn’t bring his political views into his sport? I was told over the weekend when I said that Colin is one of the top 64 quarterbacks in the league, that’s just my opinion.

I wanted to say well you saying he’s not is your opinion but it was not the place or time. I know he has not played quarterback for a few years now but is that all his fault? We all know whose fault that is. He may not have played in a few years and he is older but do you see how quickly QBs are dropping this year. No matter how many injuries or cases if bad play Colin Kaepernick isn’t getting his second chance. In a league and a country of second chances and forgiveness, he seems to be left out.

He said his kneeling was not disrespecting the Armed Forces so why can’t the NFL take his word for it? Every time an injured quarterback appears in the news so does the name Colin Kaepernick. But he never got a second chance. Hill did, Hunt did, if it comes out Antonio Brown is not guilty or reached a settlement, will he get one, probably. I just don’t see how 32 owners can take a pass on an average quarterback with Super Bowl experience but sign players who have done physically much worse. I didn’t approve of the kneeling but I think the man has paid his dues. Just because he settled on the lawsuit doesn’t mean he can be shunned like this.

If he wants to play again can he just get a tryout? Robert Kraft gets to still be an owner. Why because of a technicality not because he deserves it. He did something far more serious than kneeling but less serious than the abusive behavior shown by many athletes. But also got a second chance. Most everyone on the planet has made a mistake, said or did something controversial and got a second chance. It’s life no one is perfect, but the league needs to make sure Colin gets his second chance. People doing worse acts are actively playing sports right now. I understand some people will never forgive or accept Colin Kaepernick for starting this. But was it worse than afflicting bodily harm against a female? What side are you standing or kneeling behind?

Standing or Kneeling

My last thought I want to leave you with is Johnny Manziel a young man who lived life in the fast lane was given chances by other teams to play football. Manziel isn’t close to having as many professional wins so why him? Because being an addict is more forgiving and sympathetic. The public loves when someone is broken down and rebuilt in front of their eyes. It’s time the owners of franchises open their arms and eyes and make sure Colin Kaepernick gets a second chance. Who should be banned from playing in the NFL? What side are you standing or kneeling behind?
