My god, it’s only been one week since the college basketball season has opened and what a week it’s been, you ready for my recap? Let’s take a look at college basketball recap week one.

#1 -JAMES WISEMAN

Is it all over for Wiseman already?

This is probably the biggest shock and blow of the season so far isn’t it? Wiseman has been declared ineligible by the NCAA, because coach Penny Hardaway (who wasn’t the coach yet) gave $11, 500 to the Wiseman family for moving expenses.

Hardaway counted then as a booster because he donated a million dollars to the Memphis Sports Hall Of Fame in 2008.

Wiseman played in a few games, however, it seems his lawyers will withdraw their lawsuit against the NCAA.

This bears watching because if he is indeed deemed ineligible for the season all hopes for the tigers to reach the Final Four and National Title are all but done.

#2 -KENTUCKY REALLY?

Did #1 and 25 point favorite really lose at home to unranked Evansville? You bet they did. I was as stunned as any, because of how hard they fought and played to beat previous #1 Michigan State.

Coach John Calipari’s team got a serious wake-up call and time will only tell what that means for this year’s group of Wildcats.

#3-WHAT’S GOING ON WITH THE BIG TEN?

The Big Ten seemed to me to be more deep and dangerous than it has been in years, but it seems I was wrong.

College Basketball Week One
Is the Big Ten this bad?

Northwestern lost to Merrimack. Yes, it’s not a battleship like I thought it was.

Nebraska has lost to UC Riverside and Southern Utah. Texas and Marquette have beaten Purdue and DePaul beat Iowa.

Michigan State redeemed itself from losing to Kentucky by beating Seton Hall, and Ohio State beat Villanova, however, I fear this league may be only a 3 or 4 team bid league.

#4- IS THE PAC -12 BACK?

Oregon has made this league look ferocious so far and let’s hope that continues. The Ducks beat Memphis (with Wiseman) and a decent Boise State team. Washington beat Baylor, Oregon State beat Iowa State, and somehow Utah beat Mississippi Valley St 143-49. Yes, you heard me right.

College Basketball Week One
Can the Ducks save the PAC 12?

What does this all mean for the Pac 12? Let us all hope that teams like Arizona, UCLA, and Colorado will make this league relevant again because this league has been too dormant for a while now.

#5 – FRESHMAN DEBUTS

Did anyone see Cole Anthony’s UNC debut? How about 34 points, 11 rebounds, and 5 assists. James Wiseman of Memphis has 28 points and 11 rebounds in what could be his only achievement. Kentucky’s Tyrese Maxey scored 26 points and helped the Wildcats upset #1 Michigan St.

Villanova’s Jeremiah Robinson-Earl had 24 points and 13 rebounds. Washington’s Jaden McDaniels and Isaiah Stewart combined for 33 points and 15 rebounds in their debut as well.

College basketball looks like we are in for an exciting start of the season because there are lots of early-season match-ups still coming! College basketball recap week one.

Early in-season tournaments are right around the corner. I know I’m ready are you?
