First, let me just say that I don’t believe the Bruins are that much better than the Caps. But I do believe that the Boston Bruins now own Mr. Tom Wilson. That was on full display towards the end of the third period of Boston’s 7-3 win over Washington. A full-on temper tantrum might as well be a title transfer for Wilson’s rights. The angst and immaturity he showed by letting a couple of do-nothing goons, and David Pastrnak, get under his skin was like something out of “No! David” book.

The Fallout

It doesn’t take much to aggravate Wilson, we know that much. Throw in a BEATING from the other team, and he’s headhunting as soon as the score gets out of hand. After giving Pasta a nice little tap to the groin, the Capitals forward found him again near the benches. While it seems like Pastrnak is going for a change, Wilson comes out of nowhere, looking to run 88 through the boards. When a scrum ensues, Tommy boy decides to get on top of Pastrnak (and a ref) and throws a few punches for good measure.

I understand the Capitals were getting blown out, and things get chippy in games like that. I also understand that Boston, no matter how true, has a reputation for being a “dirty” team in some circles of the hockey community. What befuddles me is how Tom Wilson thought this would do anything but give him a longer Christmas vacation courtesy of the Department of Player Safety. More to the point, it lets every Bruin know how easy it’ll be to throw him off his game, should they meet in the postseason.

Diary of Tom

Tom Wilson now belongs to the Bruins

This isn’t about Brad Marchand and what he’s done in the past. It’s surely not about what former Bruins have done in the last 5-10 years. It’s about Tom Wilson losing his cool, and giving Boston the ammunition they’ll need in the future. No matter how many times you post a photo of Marchand licking someone, it won’t help you fight to defend the wrecking ball that is Tom Wilson. A top-liner with some surmountable talent, sure. But he continues to show the world he’s always going to revert back to a liability on the ice. That was on full display tonight. The Eastern conference SCF representative will likely be one of these two teams, and the Bruins have the wherewithal to take Wilson out of a series. Boston owns him.

Love how big tom lives rent free in every rival team’s heads. Keep on keeping on Tommy. There’s a reason he’s a Stanley cup champion. Dude has tons of talent that’s why he plays on a long with ovi and backstrom.

Absolutely! We all know what a long-standing rivalry the Caps and Bruins have. And his long is one of the best in the game. You bring up some great points! If you knew what you were talking about, and could spell, they might even be relevant points. Merry Christmas, bub.
