We can all take a collective breath. What we all wanted to happen happened today and we can all go to sleep knowing that the first leg in the Dolphins drafting Tua is behind us.

I know we were all clutching our phones at noon patiently waiting for the update on what this young man decided to do about his immediate football career. Was Tua going to go back to college and forgo millions of dollars or would he go to the pros and make millions of dollars. I suppose you can look at other potential factors such as living that college life, getting closer to being the #1 pick in next year’s draft(something that can never happen baring Trevor Lawerence getting abducted by aliens and not getting returned) or winning another championship. But in the end, sitting ironically next to the man that has a major hand in why the Dolphins need Tua, Tua Tagovailoa decided to become a professional.

This decision lets the Dolphin’s brass wipe the sweat off their brows because it made their tanking rebuilding efforts not die in vain. They didn’t get the #1 pick, but they are in a good position to get their man. Cincinnati takes Burrow, Washington takes Chase Young, Detroit goes with Jeff Okudah, and the Giants select A.J. Epenesa/Andrew Thomas. This leaves the Dolphins sitting pretty to take the franchise QB they need to continue on with laying down roots of the culture that Brian Flores planted this year.

The ideal scenario is that Tua continues to rehab his hip injury and then around draft time we see a video of him looking way ahead of schedule and everyone talks about how determined he is. He then gets drafted by the Dolphins and enters training camp as the #2 QB behind Ryan Fitzpatrick. From there on, Tua gets healthier and learns anything he can from Fitzpatrick as the Dolphins improve and maybe even go on a run next year.

Miami does all this with Tua never seeing a snap. He rides the pine and gets healed up to as 100% as he can possibly be. Get over the idea that if you take a player that high then he has to play right away. That’s not going to be an option and I’m glad it’s not. Let’s try going with the high draft pick QB sits for a year like it was in yesteryear. Plenty of QBs have done really well when they didn’t start right away.

It should be a fun few months ahead of where every analyst saying the same thing. That is that it be nice for Tua to get drafted by a team that already has a starter and more pieces around where he doesn’t have to come in right away or do everything by themselves. Little secret: no fucking duh it would be best for Tua to go to a team that has more talent around than the first ten teams. Truthfully, it would be great that all top rookie QBs didn’t go to teams that sucked but that’s not how it works regardless of how many analysts wish it to be true.

For now, just relax knowing that your franchise QB has an excellent chance to land with your Miami Dolphins. Just think, in a few months the Dolphins will have their guy and everything will go smooth next year. No real issues to deal with like your best and most expensive player possibly being in jail or cut. All the pieces are starting to fall into place. Yep, it’s almost safe to say that everything is coming up Dolphins. Definitely no trepidation thinking that all of this will blow up in Miami’s face because they’re in fact the Miami Dolphins. Nope. None of that kind of thinking at all.

By the way, I know Tua is wearing Marino’s number so don’t have a heart attack. You know it and I know that they would never let him wear that number.
