The Baseball Writers Association announced their 2020 Hall Of Fame inductees on Tuesday night. Here are the results of that and who will be inducted in July.
Derek Jeter was one vote shy of an unanimous vote and Larry Walker was a close call with 76 % . They are the Baseball Writers association 2020 Hall of Fame Class. Jeter was considered one of the best players to play the game and a legend for the Yankees. Walker is the first Rockies player to make the Hall of Fame which is big deal considering all the talk around the Coors Field advantage.
While Jeter made in his first year on the ballot, which is not much of surprise. Walker was in his 10th and final year. It was a close call for Walker but he was finally able to get in. It opens the door for other Rockies players to at least have chance at being considered for the Hall of Fame in the future.
Walker was the 1997 National League MVP, a 3 time batting champion and overall a good player. He is considered one of the best players to put on a Rockies uniform. Jeter is a 14 time All Star, 5 time World Series champion and had 3465 hits in his career.
Its amazing that Jeter was one vote shy of being unanimous induction, considering everything he did in his career. There are only 2 being inducting this year, which could be a trend for the next few years. The voters are really looking hard players and their numbers. There is some controversy when it comes to some of the players on the ballot.
Jeter and Walker were some of the best players to play the game. A good class of deserving players going in this year.
