The William Jessup Warriors got a big 82-80 win over the No.2 The Master’s Mustangs. It was a very exciting game to watch.
The Master’s jumped out to an early 10 point lead, but the Warriors hot three-point shooting and Luis Medearis got the Warriors back into the game. In the first half, Wilson LaShells came off the bench with eight points while hitting two three-point shots. Isaiah Milan also pitched in with eight points, and the Warriors fought back to take a 48-45 lead at half time.
In the second half William Jessup started great, pushing their lead up to 15 at one point, but The Master’s fought back behind Tim Soares 27 points and Darryl McDowell-White’s 21 points to tie the game with under a minute to go. The Warriors had a chance for the last shot; Isaiah Milian took a well-contested three, and it was air-balled, but Austin Dill grabbed in the air and was able to lay it in with his back to the basket as time expired to give William Jessup the 82-80 victory. Luis Medearis finished with 26 points and Isaiah Milan 16 points.
Bench Scoring
William Jessup outscored The Master’s bench 24-10. William LaShells lead the way with 11 points while shooting 4-5 field and 3-5 from three-point land. Sam Howlin added six, Jayden DeJoesph added five, and Tarren Storey-Way had two.
Points Off Turnovers
The Warriors defense did an excellent job staying active and forcing turnovers. William Jessup managed to score 26 points off The Master’s turnovers. Scoring off turnovers was a massive factor in the victory for the Warriors.
Three-Point Shooting
Once again, three-point shooting is a critical factor in a Warriors victory. In the first half, three-point shooting kept the Warriors in the game and eventually help them take the lead at half time. William Jessup hit 8-18 three’s in the first half; they cooled off in the second half going just 3-11. William Jessup finished the game shooting 11-29 from three, which is good for 37.9%.
