CP3 and Chef Curry. If you are asking where I intend to go with this given Curry’s clear advantage in career accomplishment and impact on the game, then let me introduce you to Lady Luck.

Now, I do not know how this Roman goddess utilizes her powers in the world of sports. I, however, can assert that if she had a few lucky stones to give to CP3 and Chef Curry, she granted them all to Curry. Maybe she likes Curry’s smile and boastful shimmy-celebrations after a demoralizing three-point shot. Maybe Lady Luck felt guilty coming into this season. Is she why we practically have not seen Curry this year while Paul has surprised the league at the age of 34 to become its best clutch player? Even if my speculation is accurate, it does not compensate for Lady Luck’s misapplication of her lucky stones

Critical Moments in the Careers of CP3 and Chef Curry

CP3

2008 NBA Playoffs

Lost to Duncan and the Spurs in game seven at New Orleans after 3-2 lead

2015 NBA Playoffs

After finally defeating the almighty Spurs with one of the most memorable and heartbreaking shots over the greatest power forward of all time, he missed the first two games of the semi-finals against the Rockets who would go on the win the series in seven games.

2018 NBA Playoffs

This one makes you feel Paul’s pain. This one may have had the most impact on the CP3 and Chef Curry comparison. This is the one where you wonder if Lady Luck gave all her lucky stones to Curry. After Clippers went up 3-2 against super team-Warriors, Paul was forced to sit out games six and seven resulting in the Warriors winning the series.

Chef Curry

Let’s not discuss the obvious (the creation of a super team with the addition of Kevin Durant). Also, we’ve already addressed the 2018 Playoffs. Let’s go back to Curry’s first chip in 2015. The Warriors did not have to face either of the two most formidable opponents in the Wes in the Spurs and Clippers. Oh, but it doesn’t end there. Remember, Lady Luck is involved in this CP3 and Chef Curry comparison. In the 2015 NBA Finals, the Cavs essentially only had Lebron James since Kevin Love was out due to injury and Kyrie Irving was out for the remainder of the Finals after suffering an injury in game one. How convenient for Curry and the Warriors to only have to deal with Lebron James.

So, again, CP3 and Chef Curry. Whenever you engage in this comparison, never forget the role of Lady Luck in their careers. Were it not for the Roman goddess, CP3- not Curry- would be considered the best point guard since Magic Johnson.
