I admit it. I was one of the people who put some cheddar cheese on Playoff Damien to win the Super Bowl MVP. The only difference was when I did it, it was immediately after the game was over while Fan Duel was being inundated with folks checking out how much they won and those who were trying figure out hard it would be to tell their families that they lost everything. That, and the difference that I only threw a Hamilton on this where this guy put 500 Hamilton’s on it. Can you imagine being this guy who bet on Damien Williams to win Super Bowl MPV?

These types of things happen with every championship. Every title game, a person posts their betting slip showing about the incredible odds they defeated with their bet. This time, the opposite is the case. This time the odds were not forever in this guy’s favor. I get that there are bad beats.

I’m not even sure you would classify this as a bad beat. Taking the over in Pat Mahomes rushing yards. Now that’s a bad beat. But, this is still very gut-wrenching. The stones it takes to put a half-stack of high-society on a guy who wasn’t thought of to win. Only to have that guy play one of the best games of his career and not win the MVP is rough. I don’t care that this person betting 5 G’s on Playoff Damien probably has it to lose. He made a ballsy play and probably should have been rewarded.

bet on Damien Williams

A bet on Damien Williams seemed like the apropos move to make at the time I did it. I thought Playoff Damien should have won Super Bowl MVP. Not because he’s an ex-Dolphin who very obviously, under the eyes of the very intelligent Adam Gase, couldn’t hack in Miami. But because I thought he played the most consistent throughout the game. Mahomes did lead the Chiefs back from the dead to win. But he was largely the reason they were in that predicament in the first place. He threw two terrible looking picks, fumbled once and was consistently off-target for 53 minutes of the game. Williams made the most of, seemingly every touch he had, scored twice and was breaking ankles every chance he got. The biggest reason he didn’t win the MVP was that his name wasn’t Pat Mahomes.

Hopefully, this person who laid down a 5 K bet on Damien Williams will recover. Like I said, if you’re making this kind of bet, you’re probably doing alright in this world. That, or you just lost your last five thousand dollars and you’re running from a KGB type guy. It has to be one or the other.
