Never Too Much of a Good Thing… Right?

With the NBA All-Star Break now in the rear-view mirror, we shift focus to the long awaited NBA playoffs. Top overall pick, Zion Williamson, made his highly anticipated NBA debut in mid-January. The Pelicans of New Orleans struck gold with the viral basketball Phenom maybe playing better, and sooner, than expected. Down in the “Big Easy”, fans may have to make sacrifices to keep the electrifying rookie happy in their city.

Word on the street is that having a personality and an appetite the size of the 6’7″, almost 300-pound (285 lb. listed[1]) rim punisher, may challenge the demand of seafood across Louisiana. Although I’m no expert on seafood, surely someone Zion’s size can put down a boatload of crab legs and crawfish. In fact, according to a source[2], before Williamson was even drafted to the Pelicans, he actually took a visit to the Bayou to sample some of its signature seafood.

If the city of New Orleans wants to keep Williamson and his stomach happy, residents may have to cut back on their own seafood consumption. Hopefully for the people of Louisiana, this “Baller in the Bayou” can replace the seafood he consumes with NBA gold. Fortunately, the future of the Pelicans looks bright with a young and “hungry” core.

With a current record of 23-32, good for 11th place in the grueling western conference, a strong finish to the season is needed. Big Z and the rest of the Pels look to avoid missing the playoffs for a second straight season. With Drew Brees aging and the Anthony Davis trade to LA now old news, Zion is in prime position to take over the hearts of New Orleans fans everywhere. Also, he may quite possibly lead the transition into the next era of NBA basketball.
