When you’re Kristaps Porzingis and you get asked about if the game you just played felt like a playoff atmosphere and you’ve never played in an NBA playoff game, say this:

I’m thrilled that Porzingis didn’t say anything like, “It did indeed feel like a playoff game.” Because if he had, everyone would have been all over him for saying yes to something that he never did. Though if he did, it would have been innocent. Innocent like all of us who just nod their heads to things without ever thinking about it. You just say sure and hope the person walks away.

Fortunately, Porzingis said the right, truthful thing. He truly doesn’t know what a playoff atmosphere feels like. Although he will shortly due to the Mavericks emergence as a viable playoff team. Last night, the Mavericks held off Zion and the Pelicans with a 127-123 OT victory thanks to plays like this from the Unicorn.

I haven’t, officially, declared the Mavericks as the team nobody wants to play, but they’re in the running. Especially with Porzingis getting better each game while putting his injury far in the rear-view mirror, the Mavericks seem to be hitting their stride at the right time.

With Luka ascending to the near top of the league and Porzingis gaining confidence, the Mavericks are going to be dangerous. Actually, why not, the Dallas Mavericks are officially the tea, that nobody wants to play. Good for Dallas. Good for Porzingis. Enjoy your Thursday.
