It seems like only a few days ago I wrote a similar headline with a different quarterback’s name in it. It seems like that because that’s exactly what I did on Thursday about Cam Newton. Well, another day of quarantining life, another quarterback that has good odds, according to Vegas, of ending up in Miami. The Dolphins have the NFL, seemingly, in the palm of their hand and here we are talking about another suspect quarterback by the name of Jameis. Quarantine life am I right?

I realize that most everyone is experiencing some form of schizophrenia and paranoia associated with not being allowed to leave their homes, but this nonsense of linking every thrower of a football to the Dolphins doesn’t help my own personal mental state. I wrote about how the Dolphins were connected to every quarterback ever, a few weeks ago, and that thought is sadly truer today. I’d like to see the Vegas odds of Heath Shuler, Bubby Brister and Wade Wilson(not the Deadpool Wade Wilson, the Viking’s QB Wade Wilson) odds of landing on the Dolphins. What’re we thinking; all of those guys about +2100?

I Just Don’t Want Jameis in Miami

I gave my reasons for not wanting Cam Newton to come to Miami. They were, he’s not accurate enough, don’t feel like paying his price and that Miami has Fitzpatrick who, right now, is a billion times a better fit than most quarterbacks that aren’t top guys. I feel pretty much the same about why I don’t want Winston in a Dolphin’s uniform.

I’d rather Winston over Newton if I had to pick. He’s only 26, has shown some mega flashes of being a terrific player. But, as we all know, he’s the first member of the 30/30 club. Throwing 30 TDs and 30 INTs is about as impressive a stat-line as you can have. Unfortunately, I don’t want that on the Dolphins. Even with Winston’s added ability to better eyesight, I still don’t want to go through the probable ups and downs. Ryan Fitzpatrick has me at around two heart attacks a game. Winston would easily put me at around the baker’s dozen range.

Biggest Reason Against Jameis

The biggest reason I don’t want Winston, Newton or anyone besides Fitzpatrick is that the Dolphins aren’t, necessarily, looking to win a Super Bowl next year. Obviously, Flores will not ever say that, nor should he. And I don’t think this upcoming season will be the intentional losing type of season that the Dolphin’s brass tried last year. I think the Dolphins have every intention of trying to win. And I actually do believe the Dolphins have a chance to be a sneaky playoff contender, especially with the added playoff team. But when you stick with a Ryan Fitzpatrick, you’re basically saying that you don’t truly think you’re winning it all. Plus, the Dolphins, without much doubt, will be drafting they’re signal-caller of the future very early in the 2020 NFL Draft. You don’t bring in Jameis Winston if that’s your plan.

The Year to do it…

The perfect year to sign a Jameis Winston type would have been 2017 after Tannehill went down. That’s the kind of team that needed a guy like Jameis. You bring him in to try and resurrect his career with his new ability to see better and maybe you get the guy who was the #1 overall pick in the 2015 draft. That’s not the 2020 Dolphins. The 2020 Dolphins are thinking about the 2021-2025 Dolphins.

So, enjoy yet another day of whatever day it is of ever-lasting isolation. I hope y’all sanitizes are in tack. I’m can’t wait to write another blog about rumors are heating up that Deshaun Watson can be had for two first-rounders. I can’t see how that rumor doesn’t get ramped up in the coming days.
