The National League East is a division that could provide some underdog teams. Here is how the NL East teams stack up going into the 2020 season.

Phillies

Overall the Phillies seem to have a deep line up and plenty of high-end talent coming into the 2020 season. Their primary line-up is filled with past All-Stars that have the potential to be dangerous. J.T. Realmuto, Bryce Harper, and Andrew McCutchen could lead the lineup if healthy. The Phillies rotation has the talent at the top and veteran presence in the middle that could make for balanced rotation.

Nationals

The Nationals are coming into the 2020 season as the reigning World Series champions hoping to take the NL East. They have a similar team to last season and plenty of depth in their line-up. The pitching is the strength behind Max Scherzer. The loss of Anthony Rendon could take a toll on this team if they don’t find a way to make up for it. The Nationals look to be a contender again this season.

Braves

The Braves have a similar team this season to the one they had in 2019. The pitching is going to be a strength for them especially after signing Cole Hamels to a one-year deal. They have good depth in their lineup and the addition of Travis d’Arnaud will help them. Overall the Braves have a solid team that could compete for the NL East this season.

Mets

National East teams

The Mets are an improved team from last year with the additions of Dellin Betances and Michael Wacha to their rotation. Pete Alonso and Jeff McNeil made an impression in 2019 and they look to improve in the new season. If they can stay healthy the Mets could be a competitive team.

Marlins

The Marlins are an interesting team that is still in rebuilding mode. José Ureña continues to be a bright spot on this team. They have a young team that will not be ready for a while. It’s safe to say that they are a work in progress.
