All I was trying to do was to enjoy a little bit of the St. Patrick’s Day festivities that my area of Scranton PA, participates in every year. With the whole coronavirus situation that’s upon us, that was more difficult to achieve but with the help of Troegs Brewery, I was on my way. Then, Bleacher Report had to go ahead and try to ruin my day…

I’ve scoured Cameron Wolfe’s recent Twitter looking for any kind acknowledgment of this claim. I couldn’t find any. But, all of us know that the Dolphins are going to be looking for some kind of running back for next year. There isn’t a universe that exists where they go out there with just Laird and Gaskin. So, bringing in some form of veteran RB seems pretty damn logical. I would have loved if Austin Ekeler was the guy the Dolphins brought in to be not the change of pace guy but a guy who got around 15ish touches. But the Chargers signed him up on a sweet deal, so that dream is out.

Obviously, Melvin Gordon would be real nice for the Dolphins, if the price is right. First off, fuck this whole notion that the price has to be right. Melvin Gordon will play where he plays based on where he’s getting the most money regardless, if he thinks the price is right or not. Essentially, who pays the most is where the price was the most right. Secondly, Melvin Gordon is a bit late to the party for demanding money as an RB. Zeke Elliot understood this and held out after his 3rd year. Gordon should have done that and others like Barkley and McCaffrey, should be doing the same. Gordon played the role of the good soldier, which admirable, doesn’t get you paid.

The Dolphins should look at the Melvin Gordon as a possibility for RB. Then when then they get told that he’s looking for a king ransom’s amount of money they should look elsewhere. He’s a guy who has exactly 1 1,000 yard season. I’m a fan of Gordon, mostly because he produces for me in fantasy football, though he typically misses a few games every year.

The Dolphins are, allegedly, sniffing around the J.K Dobbins and Jonathan Taylor camp, so I suppose we’ll see where that goes. Miami has around $95million dollars eleventy billion dollars in cap space. It makes sense that they will spend something on a ball carrier. But, the money that Gordon is looking for is nothing that a team like the Dolphins should be paying. I really feel that Grier knows that and will pass on high priced free agents, which Gordon will be.

Also, we all know that you don’t need a big deal RB to carry the ball. Look at that Zeke Elliot. He got paid a bunch and wouldn’t you know, the Cowboys don’t make the playoffs. You can get by with an average named RB. It’s the way of the position and it’s not changing any time soon.

I wanted Ekeler and am still pretty butthurt that he’s gone, but there are still options available. Guys like Hunt, Breida, and Howard could fill the role as a quasi ball carrier.
