Gigi the Cat could have easily been like the rest of us and just sat on the couch and run a gamut on Netflix, or play three seasons in Madden in two weeks, like me. But that’s not what world-class athletes do when given an obstacle like not being able to do much of anything. The greats figure out crafty ways to turn negatives into positives. Based on the footage we received here at the esteemed Belly Up Sports soccer department, Gigi is abiding by the Patriot Way and embracing that No Days Off life.

I count only one shot missed by Gigi the Cat. A competitor like Gigi the Cat probably wasn’t too happy about that single miss. I imagine she immediately started training herself as Affleck did in The Accountant.

Not since Sam from Rocket Power have I seen goalkeeping performed at this kind of level. It’s the anticipation where Gigi the Cat is leaps and bounds ahead of everyone else. It’s like Gigi the Cat has already played out all the shots that were going to be headed her way. As if, she’s somehow have already seen this before.

Here Me Out

Maybe Gigi the Cat is some kind of time-traveling cat? A cat whose sole purpose is to come to 2020 to wreak havoc on opposing soccer players in hallways? If that’s true, it would have been nice if Gigi the Cat time-traveled back a few months earlier and let everyone know that life was going to drastically change and give us the tips necessary to avoid much of this. For that, I can’t fully appreciate Gigi the cat.

But, I understand her mentality. She’s a competitor at the highest degree meaning she’s selfish. Her selfishness is only over-shadowed by her intense focus. A focus, that doesn’t have time to worry about pandemics and the ramifications of the said pandemic. Nope, it’s all about not allowing that ball to get past her no matter what. I’ll never fully appreciate Gigi the Cat’s narrow-minded focus and dedication but I have no choice but to respect it.

By the Way- Let me know if you’ve read any other blogs about a time-traveling cat that is ridiculously good at goalkeeping. And yes, I’ve come to same conclusion you have and that’s from an extreme focus stand point Gigi the Cat is the John Wick of time-traveling goalkeeping cats.
