Yeah, you know it was the strangest thing. I went on the internet on sites like Facebook and Twitter and there was all this information about Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. Like, just about every article, blog, and comment were about this guy. There was stuff from former GM Micahel Lombardi, a guy I and you are told should care about but don’t, about how he has a bunch more injuries then the major ones.

Then today, Trent Dilfer a former quarterback who trains anybody who’s anybody who throws a pigskin, said that Tua not only throws better than Aaron Rodgers but that he also throws a football better than Dan Marino. Can you believe this blasphemy? You guys do remember Dan Marino, don’t you? In case you’ve been living under a rock for the last 30 years, Dan Marino was the quarterback for our team the Miami Dolphins back in the 80s and 90s.

He was basically Patrick Mahomes, Aaron Rodgers, and Patrick Ramsey before they could spell the word football. Oh and that quick release! You can’t talk about Marino without talking about his, legendary, quick release. The way the ball came off his hand was like nothing anyone has ever seen before. Often imitated, never duplicated sort of a thing. Now you have Trent Dilfer saying that Tua throws it better. Well, that just can’t be. How could it? Dan Marino threw it the best.

Ummm, I’ll take Dan Marino for 2,000, Alex

Dan Marino was and is the best quarterback of all time and it doesn’t matter what anyone else says. He may not have the championships to back that up, but if he was playing in today’s NFL, he’d throw for no less than 16,000 yards a season.

But Dan Marino doesn’t play anymore, and he’s not walking through that door. Tua does seem like the quarterback the team has wanted all along. They traded away young assets last year to try and get the first pick in hopes to draft Tua. Unbelievable right? It didn’t work and now Miami has the fifth pick. not to take the cue from the great, hit sport’s show First Take Your Take but the question is; who should the Dolphins take? Do they trade all their picks for Heisman trophy winner Joe Burrow?

Do they do what they can to take Tua, the guy they’ve wanted but who also has the injury history? Or, and hear me out on this, do they go the darkhorse route and take Oregon’s, Justin Herbert? I’ve studied the tape of Herbert and the guy can “sling” it. He also possesses a “live arm” perhaps the “livest arm” in the whole draft.

Exsqueeze Me?

What’s confusing is that everyone on TV, the internet and everywhere in between has different things to say about what the Dolphins are going to do. If you listen, very, close to everything being written and said about the Dolphins and who they’re going to draft, it almost sounds like nobody has a clue, at all, at what the team is ultimately going to do. It’s like, every time some new information comes out, you have somebody, allegedly, close to the team saying “I’ve heard similar things” no matter what gets said. As a fan, who also doesn’t know one damn thing on who the Dolphins will draft, it’s confusing indeed.

Reading all the news coming out about Tua, Burrow, and Herbert every millisecond is a ton of fun though amiright? It’s right up there with looking at strangers mock drafts. Those are loads of un every single time.

The Insiders have Your Back

So, here’s hoping that we get all this straightened out before the draft happens on April 23. It’s not good to live with all this uncertainty. I think we’ll be okay because, eventually, one of these “insiders” will have the absolute right answer on who the Dolphins will be drafting. They know who’s going to be good and who will be bad, and they would never say anything they don’t believe themselves or that isn’t properly researched. I take comfort in that. You should too.
