It has rained all day in Long Pond, Pennsylvania, but it is finally time for the engines to be fired at Pocono Raceway or as many like to call it, the tricky triangle. This is the first of it’s kind as the NASCAR Cup Series will compete on back to back days at the same track. The results from today’s race will be inverted for starting positions for tomorrow’s race. The green flag is waving on the Pocono doubleheader part one!

Pocono Doubleheader Part 1; Stage One

Aric Almirola has the pole. During pace laps, it starts to rain again, but drivers stay out and the race is on!

Competition caution is out.

Almirola remains the leader.

Caution again! Quin Houff in the #00 has spun.

Green flag! Joey Logano takes the lead from pole winner, Aric Almirola.

Logano holds on to the top spot to win stage one!

Stage Two

At the start of stage two, Almirola regains the lead.

As some green flag pit stops are underway, Martin Truex Jr. is the new leader.

J.J. Yeley and John Hunter Nemechek makes contact and the left front tire has been blown. Debris is flying onto the track as a result.

With 8 laps to go in stage two, the green flag waves.

 

CAUTION! Trouble for Erik Jones and Tyler Reddick! Reddick got into the left rear of Jones sending them both hard into the inside wall. Especially big hit for Jones as the impact from hitting the inside wall lifts the #20 off the ground and makes contact with the passenger side of Tyler Reddick’s #8 Chevrolet Camaro.

2 laps to go at the green flag!

Almirola wins stage one in the Pocono doubleheader part one, marking it his first stage win of the 2020 season.

Stage 3

While under caution, Chase Elliott’s #9 team was caught with an uncontrolled tire violation. He must start from the rear of the field.

The third and final stage of the day is underway.

Kevin Harvick takes the lead!

Only 10 laps to go!

Denny Hamlin is P2 and attempting to catch up to Harvick, but a bad vibration is slowing him down.

Kevin Harvick wins the Pocono Organics 350!

This is Harvick’s third win of the season, but only his first win ever at the tricky triangle!

After Saturday morning’s truck race was rained out, it has been moved to Sunday morning at 9:30am. This means there will be not a double, but a TRIPLEHEADER tomorrow!
