Nobody will understand how significant the difference is between day time and night time racing until you have witnessed it yourself. With a 7 PM start time the air temperature will cool down some, but in Ridgeway, Virginia, home to Martinsville Speedway everything else will heat up.

Martinsville at Night: Race Day Picks

Here are the Wingman Sports Race Day Picks for tonight’s race:

Brittany Reed: Kyle Busch

For this race I have chosen Kyle Busch to take the win once the dust settles tonight. He seems to be impressive anywhere he goes, but with eight top-5 finishes in the last ten starts at Martinsville Speedway, this is a track I’m sure he looks forward to heading to every year. He has two wins at this track which were in the Fall of 2017 and at the Spring race in 2016.

Timothy Hammond: Chase Elliott

Me: “OK guys I need your race day picks for Martinsville”

Timothy: “Chase Elliott!”

Me: “Again?”

Timothy: “He’s winning tonight!”

For the second week in a row, Timothy Hammond of 8 To Go says Chase Elliott will win the race. The last time Chase Elliott was at Martinsville was immediately after he was eliminated from the playoffs at Dover and he finished 36th after the #9 Hendrick Motorsport Chevrolet suffered a broken axle. In his three starts at Martinsville Speedway before these events he took him a top ten finish, including the 2019 Spring race when he finished 2nd.

Glenn Earnhardt: Joey Logano

Glenn Earnhardt has also chosen the same driver from Sunday’s race day picks: Joey Logano. Last year he had an 8th place finish and in the Spring he finished 18th. Logano’s 2018 season at Martinsville was even more impressive. He won in October of 2018 and finished 6th in the spring.

Brian Sykes: Denny Hamlin

In Denny Hamlin’s last three starts at this track he finished in the top five. He finished in the runner-up spot in the October 2018 race.. In fact, he hasn’t finished outside of the top 15 since the 2017 spring race when he finished 30th.
