The Colorado Rockies have shown themselves to be a contender with their early success. They want to prove that they have enough to be a true threat. Are the Rockies the real deal in 2020?

Since the Rockies are playing the game with offense, defense, and pitching they could be the real deal. They have played an overall complete game which has been key to their recent success. Furthermore, Colorado has a good team all the way around. Their core players Nolan Arenado, Trevor Story, Charlie Blackmon, and Tony Wolters are what sets the team apart.

Real Deal Offense

Arenado and Story have made some impressive plays on defense that not many others can make. Its fun to marvel at how special they are on the field.  The offense has helped the Rockies win some games as of late. Everyone is contributing in the line up no matter who is being put in. Matt Kemp has been a good addition to this already potent lineup.

This Rockies offense has been clicking on all cylinders and is not slowing down anytime soon. Arenado recently got out of his slump with two home runs and is looking to punish opponents in the coming weeks. Daniel Murphy and Trevor Story have been the Rockies’ biggest offensive stars with some key hits in recent wins. Chris Owings and Sam Hilliard have been nice surprises for them. There is so much to like about this offense.

Good Pitching

The Rockies starters have all had great outings and finding early success in this short season. What’s more important is the starter’s current Earned Runs Average. German Marquez has a 1.54 ERA, Jon Gray 2.67, Kyle Freeland 1.50, and Antonio Senzatela has 2.45 ERA.  With regards to pitching these are some of the best Earned Runs Average (ERA), the Rockies have seen in a long time if ever. They are not giving up as many runs as they were last year. This is a big part of why the Rockies are in such a good spot.

There is only one real struggle so far for the Rockies and that is the bullpen. The bullpen has struggled to get outs while giving up runs late that have made some games too close for comfort. This has been a problem for a few years that has to be fixed. The Rockies had to put Scott Oberg on the 45-day injured list a big blow to the bullpen. There is room for improvement and they have young pitchers with potential.

To tell the truth, the Rockies have one of the best teams in MLB right now and have made the most improvement. Opponents should not sleep on them because this a dangerous team with everything from pitching to the offense.
