Much like Adam Gase’s hairline, my patience with the Jets is receding. I’m not even a Jets fan, but to say this season has been a disappointment is an insult to disappointments. The Jets have been outright awful. Darnold can’t stay healthy, they can’t win a game, the team looks like they’ve quit, and their head coach has officially lost it.

Following their Week 12 20-3 loss to Miami, Gase’s post game press conference left a lot to be desired. He was metaphorically, and seemed to be physically, caught with his pants down.

After Week 6, Adam Gase made the decision to relinquish play calling duties to Offensive Coordinator Dowell Loggains. Quite frankly, it didn’t make much of a difference in their season. Now this could be because the Jets flat out just aren’t that talented, which they aren’t, but it’s become even more clear that it could also be because Gase never truly gave up the play calling.

Let me ask you this. When a coach who, outside of Miami, is 7-20, this season is 0-11, doesn’t get along with his players, can’t even lie to the media correctly, and was originally brought in to “fix” an offense that is currently dead last… why would you keep him?

So…

Where Do the Jets Go From Here?

Fire Adam Gase, fire his coaching staff, and start over from there. Trade Sam Darnold and get whatever you can for him. At this point the Jets have broke him, and the kid needs a fresh start. Hire a head coaching candidate like Eric Bieniemy or Brain Daboll, and pair them with the future number one overall pick Trevor Lawrence.

It wasn’t too long ago that the Jets were 10-6 fighting for a wildcard spot. Granted, it was with Ryan Fitzpatrick. But with the Brady-less AFC East, the Jets should do all they can to nail this off-season and become a contender in their division. The Bills and Dolphins have seemingly figured it out, and I will never count out Bill Belicheck. The last thing any Jets fan wants is for them to hire the wrong guy… again, and ruin another quarterback… again.

Now before we end this article, how about a chant for old time sakes? All together now Jets fans. 1, 2, 3… J-E-T-S, MESS, MESS, MESS!

Growing up in a single-parent household came with its perks and downsides. Perk, I became very close to my mother. The downside, she wasn't a sports watcher. It wasn't until I was 15 years old that I was introduced to the world of sports/sports media. That's when I truly fell in love with it all. And it wasn't the X's and O's that won me over, it was the deep-rooted stories of the business, the athletes, and the ever so changing nature of sports that intrigued me. As a recent college graduate and Communications major, I hope to put my imprint on the sports media world.
