Reigning NASCAR Cup series champion Chase Elliott will race for Cadillac in the Rolex 24 at Daytona. He will be teaming up with Felipe Nasr, Pipo Derani and Mike Conway. The team will be competing in the Action Express Number 31 Cadillac DPi-V.R car. This will be Elliott’s first time in an IMSA car/race. The 25-year old won’t be the only Hendrick Motorsports driver to compete in this race. His former teammate Jimmie Johnson will be racing for the second Action Express car.

Elliott has shown dominance on road courses in the Cup series. He has five road course wins with four of them being back-to-back. Although this will be his first outing in IMSA, Chase has already raced and won at the Daytona road course, so he understands the track pretty well. The question is, how well will he do in a pack of other road course drivers?

How Will Elliott Do in IMSA?

In NASCAR, there are only a handful of drivers who stand out from the rest when it comes to road course racing. Although Elliott is a talented driver, he is going to have to pull some moves to be competitive. I think that he could give some of these drivers a run for their money.

NASCAR’s most popular driver is an excellent addition to the already stacked Action Express team. Together this team has a total of 77 IMSA wins under their belt. Adding another great road course racer into the mix is gonna make this team one to look out for. The second generation driver will log his first laps in IMSA on January 22-24 in the Roar before the Rolex 24. The teams will then do a 100-minute qualifying race on the last day to decide the grid lineup. The iconic Rolex 24 at Daytona will begin on January 30th at 3:40 P.M. ET.
