There’s no doubt that 2020 has been one helluva year for Washington Quarterback Dwayne Haskins. Pegged to open the season as the starter, Haskins was forced to brave a pandemic, a rebranded team, no practices, as well as a new head coach. To sum it up, the second year Quarterback was put in a position to fail. Fast forward 14 games into the season, not only did Haskins fail, he self imploded.
Following just his 11th career start in week four, Haskins was sent to the bench for “bragging” about his stats. Yes, you read that right. Apparently, going 32/45 for 314 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions in a 14 point loss is worth “bragging” over. However, Haskins got a second chance following Alex Smith’s injury against the 49ers.
In week 15, Dwayne Haskins started against the roller coaster ride that is the Seattle Seahawks. Going into the game, all Haskins had to do was trust his defense, and not turn the football over. Not only did his defense hold Russell Wilson to only 20 points, it was arguably his worst game of the season. And what did Haskins do to repay them? He turned the football over twice, and lost them the game.
Washington not only ran more total plays than Seattle, they had more time of possession, more first downs, and were better on third down. You couldn’t have gifted Dwayne Haskins much better of a scenario to be in, and still he pissed it away.
But Wait, it Gets Worse
Following the 20-15 loss to Seattle, Dwayne Haskins proved once again he simply isn’t mature enough to be in the NFL. Haskins was fined $40,000 when photographs surfaced of him attending an event with strippers while he wasn’t wearing a mask. Though Haskins owned up to his mistake, he lost his captains patch, and ruined his credibility.

I would’ve used a direct tweet from Dwayne Haskins himself, but as I am writing this, his twitter page has been set to private.
In The End…
The Washington Football Team is in a pickle. With Alex Smiths injury, Dwayne Haskins could wind up starting week 16 against the Carolina Panthers. Currently, Washington sits atop their division with two games remaining. With just one more win, they’ll essentially be guaranteed a home playoff game. Understandably though, I don’t think anyone in the organization trusts Dwayne Haskins to take them where they want to go.
If they had it their way, Haskins would be off the team, and they’d move forward. Even if Haskins was to game manage them into the playoffs, I expect him to be traded or cut following the conclusion of their season. Haskins came into the NFL having started just one season at Ohio State. And while it was a successful season, he was still a very inexperienced Quarterback with a lot to learn. Given what we’ve seen so far of him, Haskins simply isn’t ready to be an NFL Quarterback.
Could he get there? Possibly, but at this rate, the chances of it happening are between slim, and none.
