The Patriots embarrassed the Jaguars on Sunday. This was a game that the Patriots had to have, along with next week against the Dolphins. This game was the first time that rookie quarterbacks Trevor Lawrence and Mac Jones faced as pros. The Patriots were all over Lawrence. The Jaguars were held without a touchdown until it was far too late. This game was necessary for the Patriots to get right, as Kaleb wrote about prior to the game. The Patriots played complementary football all day long capitalizing on turnovers and turning them into points. Like Bill often says, we like to be efficient in all three phases of the game. (offense defense and special teams) Luckily we didn’t have to worry about special teams this time around.

The Pats were able to score 50 points for the second time this season. If my research is correct, the Patriots are the only team to score 50 points twice in a season since the Packers did in 2014. I am no football expert, but the Patriots might be the first team to ever score 50 points twice in a season, with a rookie quarterback.

Was Trevor Lawrence the Correct Draft Pick at Number One?

After that demoralizing game, it is hard to say Mac Jones didn’t deserve to go number one; however, destiny is destiny

We must give credit to the Patriots team as a whole, and not just focus on the quarterback play. The Patriots are far superior to the Jaguars. Damien Harris was able to secure his 14th rushing touchdown of the year, four short from tying LeGarrette Blount for the touchdown record for the season. Harris will have one extra game to give that record a shot.

Kristian Wilkerson stood out for the Patriots after being activated from the practice squad. He finished with 4 receptions and two touchdowns, potentially earning himself more playing time down the line.

Looking Forward

To finish off the regular season the Patriots are headed down to Miami for revenge. All the way back in week one the Pats were robbed of a victory from the Miami Dolphins. That game could have been costly looking at things now. If we had won that game we would be sitting in a much better position in terms of securing the number one seed in the AFC. All be it, the Dolphins are the Dolphins and they are going to get one on us. I expect the Pats to be a completely different team this time around. At the end of the day, the Patriots are a playoff team and the dolphins are not. I think the Patriots will come out on top to end the regular season.
