UFC Vegas 48: UFC Apex:

Talk about making the most out of an opportunity. In his first main event slot, and definitely won’t be near his last, Jamahal Hill flatlined Johnny Walker. Setting up that there may be a new 205 contender?

The lanky Walker at least at the start appeared to have a solid game plan. Circle to his right and force Hill into his power. But sadly for the 29-year old Brazilian training in SBG-Ireland; that didn’t last very long. Most of Walker’s kicks were blocked by Hill’s arm, which by the time the fight was over wore a swelling on it.

And after the over the top right hand cracked Walker on the temple, he crumbled to the canvas. Hill jumped on him with a final hammer fist before referee Jason Herzog got in to stop the fight at 2:55 of the opening round. The finish drew immediate shockwaves on social media:

A New 205 Contender?

Sitting at 12th in the rankings coming into the night, it’s not a stretch to see him flip-flop spots with Walker (10th) come Tuesday morning. The former Dana White Contender Series alum isn’t short on self-belief, especially after his fourth-first-round finish. And his second-in a row.

Is anyone in the Top-5 or champion Glover Teixeira shaking in their boots right now? No. However; he might just rattle some cages. For example; the southpaw is a very bad match-up for Volkan Oezdemir. When asked what’s actually next he chose not to name names, but said:

“Stop doubting, start believing. Right now, we’re going to see. I’m going to get with the head bosses and see what makes sense”.

But much like Bobby Green; he’s earned in a flashy way, another spot at the top of a card.
