One of the most diminishing feelings as an athlete can be is seeing your teammates succeed without you. With the LA Rams celebrating their Superbowl victory, Robert Woods may be in this boat. He probably feels a little less enthusiastic than the guys who were on the field. It is a sad story for sure, no one wants to be hurt and miss a game at all and especially not the Superbowl.
Robert Woods is a major piece of the Rams Success
Robert Woods has been one of the most important players on the Rams over the past 5 years. His imprint on this team is visible even while he is on the sidelines. I’m not sure that Cooper Kupp would have had the success he did this year if not for Robert Woods. Kupp and Woods have quietly been one of the more dominant duo’s in the league together. They are the building blocks that made the Rams offense what it is. They are both unselfish players that put the team first. Robert Woods has earned that ring as much as any other player on the team has.
From a fan’s standpoint, it almost stings just as bad. We wish Woods was out there too. It would’ve carried much more emotion than OBJ. We’ve all seen Robert Woods grind it out on this team for 5 years.
Not to discredit Odell’s journey or to say he didn’t have an impressive first stint with the Rams. He did. It was almost as impressive as Kupp’s year, considering he joined the team halfway through the season and became an immediate factor.
In Odell’s first 12 games as a Ram including the playoffs, he had 7 touchdowns. If not for his injury he had a chance at being the MVP of the Superbowl. It is safe to say he made a very knowledgeable decision to join the Rams. Who knows what a full season would’ve looked like for him.
Looking Forward
Looking forward let’s all be aware of the amount of respect Robert Woods deserves. Woods walked so Odell could run. I think that’s the phrase. The Rams wouldn’t be World Champions without Robert Woods.
