Heavyweights Have Never Been Better

There’s always a method to the madness of Dana White. And it’s that madness that has made him; like him or not, one of the most successful promoters in all of sports history. However; with times being as bright as they are right now, it’s a perfect time for Dana White to change a stance on something.

For example; he got burned big time working with PRIDE and RIZIN. Hence his stance on not wanting to cross promote with Bellator, ONE FC, Invcita, etc. While fans have clamored for it, White’s been steadfast. Right now the UFC’s lighter divisions; (flyweight, and bantamweight) are popping. But there’s none that can bring the raw power of the big boys.

Presently the UFC heavyweight division IS the best it’s ever been in company history. Yes there were the days of Randy Couture, the power of Arlovski, Lesnar, and Overeem, and the era of JDS, Cain Velasquez, and Fabricio Werdum. But this is a very special group. And they deserve something special. They deserve a tournament. Especially with their champion, Francis Ngannou on ice for the next 12-months; if he even comes back to the company.

If Dana White Was To Change His Mind; What Would It Look Like

The biggest money fight for the heavyweight title would be between two, that only deserve it on name and rep alone. Neither has been active. But they both for their resumes should be allotted the One-Seed on either side of the bracket. And they are Stipe Miocic and Jon Jones. Others should have to go through them. And here is what a proposed tournament bracket would look like:

It gets rounded out by fights that fighters like Curtis Blaydes and Tom Aspinall themselves have called for that actually make sense. Those are two-main events and two-co-mains, or each entire round could be on one-block buster night. And that final fight could lead the final card of 2022.

And it would absolutely perk the fans up. Although financially the UFC has been killing it lately in the business sense. However, at this point in time, there really is no downside to something like this. And should the UFC resign Ngannou; he could get one-“warm-up” fight back, and then the strap gets unified.

What a way to start of 2023.
