With the final stretch of the NBA season approaching, Lebron and the Lakers are currently the ninth seed in the Western Conference. They have been struggling lately to find wins as they are 3-7 in their last 10 games. Lebron has been doing his best to lead them; however, he can’t be expected to carry them completely at this point in his career. Russell Westbrook has to be playing better. The Lakers can’t afford him to be playing below his potential.

In his last nine games, Westbrook is 4/28 from the three-point line. Statistically, this is one of his worst years yet. If the Lakers are going to make a run, he will need to find a way to return to his old self.

Next, Anthony Davis. The Brow was once considered to be one of the best centers in the league. He is playing well this year but has not been as dominant as in years past. He has missed the last three games which have resulted in three losses.

This is Bad News for Laker Fans

According to CBS Sports, AD could be sidelined for four to five weeks.

Terrible timing when their best basketball is needed now.

It will not be easy for the Lakers. They have a tough schedule ahead and no one will be taking it easy on Lebron. To finish off the year, the Lakers face the Warriors twice, the Suns twice, and the Nuggets twice. They’ll also have to play James Harden the new-look 76ers

It will be one of the main storylines heading into the playoffs. Can 37-year-old Lebron power his way into the post-season once again or are his years numbered.

He Doesn’t Have the Youngest Roster Around Him to Do It

When you take a step back you can see that the Lakers are a super-team of aged legends. You’ve got Carmelo Anthony at the age of 37, Dwight Howard at 36, and Russel Westbrook at 33. Melo has been playing well since his return from 5 missed games, but they could use a few more points from him a night. With AD to miss time, Dwight Howard will have to be a presence in the paint. He has missed some games this year but he is also having his worst year statistically.

We are both fortunate and unfortunate that this team wasn’t assembled in 2013 because they probably would have gone undefeated.

Looking Forward

The Lakers will have to all come together and contribute towards making a run for the Playoffs. They are currently six games behind the Clippers for the eighth seed with 21 games left to play.

One name that could give the Lakers a well-needed spark is former Celtic, Avery Bradley. He should be returning from injury soon. Bradley was once considered one of the better defenders in the league, so he could find a way to make an impact.
