Russell Westbrook might be hinting at the possibility of leaving the Los Angeles Lakers this summer. It’s safe to say that this season was a complete failure for the Lakers organization. A team that was once favorites to possibly win it all, failed to qualify for even a play-in position. Obviously, there was a lot of finger-pointing this season. Mainly due to the amount of injuries and lack of consistency. Their season went quickly downhill after the all-star break. They were only able to muster up six wins in 24 attempts. This ultimate collapse resulted in head coach Frank Vogel losing his job. A decision that was somewhat controversial, considering the fact that coaching didn’t seem to be their main issue. At the end of the day, the Lakers weren’t cohesive, and Westbrook seems to be the scapegoat of that issue.

Is Westbrook Done in LA?

Russell Westbrook on Frank Vogel: 'Not sure what his issue was with me' - Los Angeles Times

The “big three” of Westbrook, LeBron James, and Anthony Davis will go down as one of the biggest super-team fails in NBA history. However, the Lakers were able to win a championship without Westbrook. So, given Westbrook’s infamous history of stat-padding and not being a team player, it’s easy to single him out in this regard. Once the offseason officially begins, the Lakers will continue to make moves to better shape their roster. Their first move might be to move Westbrook. Despite stating in exit interviews that his plan is to play for the Lakers next season, Westbrook might be ready to face the music. Because he recently deleted all Lakers-related content on his Instagram page. Not only that, but he recently deleted all of his Instagram pictures. However, his profile picture still remains the same.

Obviously, this might not mean much considering the fact that he deleted everything from his Instagram. But that’s not how it started. To elaborate a touch more, he originally deleted all Lakers-related content. Then he recently decided to delete everything else, probably to avoid people’s speculation. Westbrook has admitted that playing this season in LA hasn’t exactly been a mental cleanser for him. Due to the constant slander and threats, he receives from fans. It has gotten to the point where he stopped taking his family to the games. The point is Westbrook doesn’t seem to be all that thrilled playing for his hometown team. He might just be taking a break from social media until he has a clearer understanding of what might happen to him moving forward. But, the end might be in sight for him and he’s probably starting to realize it.
