The Colorado Rockies can overcome a dreadful May after starting the 2022 season with a winning record. May has proven to be a challenge as they have lost almost every series and struggled overall. All is not lost, however, because they can overcome this.

Colorado set itself back with a dreadful homestand and a couple of bad road trips. They were supposed to be dominant at home, but they found ways to beat themselves. Whether it be blown saves, missed opportunities, or costly errors. All three games against the Royals were winnable, and they managed to lose them.

Dreadful May

The team is simply not playing good baseball right now. A big downfall for the Rockies has been sloppy defense and errors. It has been hard to watch them play on the field as they have made silly mistakes that cost them runs. These are plays that should be made and usually are.

Colorado has made over thirty errors this season. They are struggling to make the simplest plays, and that must change. They need to minimize the opponent’s scoring opportunities. It would be nice for the Rockies to regain their strengths because they were always fun to watch on the field.

Overcoming

Some positives for them to build on are that the offense continues to produce in crucial moments. They have a good offense that possesses a ton of power and speed. They have shown the ability to come up with multiple runs a game. There are some talented hitters like CJ Cron in the lineup. He is third in NL for batting average and leads in home runs. It has been fun to watch Cron embark on a season for the ages. Yonathan Daza and Jose Iglesias are getting on base frequently for the Rockies. Iglesias is, in fact, their best hitter on the road. However, they are often left stranded on base. The other hitters need to step and start getting more hits, especially with base runners. If all the players in the lineup could hit, just imagine how potent this lineup could be.

The Rockies have a chance to recover from the last couple of weeks and have a successful rest of the season. Their starters that are going well need to maintain, but the ones struggling need to stabilize. Their defense needs to be better and stop making so many costly plays. Clean play is the key here for Colorado. Therefore, fans should keep an eye on the Colorado Rockies as they look for a comeback.
