The NBA is built on the foundation of having at least two All-Stars to win a championship. One of them has to be a top-ten level guy or approaching it, while the other star can vary depending on needs. Khris Middleton is the Bucks’ go-to scorer in the clutch, and Zach Lavine is one of the most explosive players in the NBA. Chris Paul can run an offense at a level we have never seen, and Kyrie Irving is masterful with the ball. Paul George and James Harden were MVP candidates not too long ago. So much talent in the league while being their team’s second-best option. However, Jaylen Brown is the NBA’s Best Robin.

Ability To Play The First Option

Many guys get their production because they do not get the most attention from the defense. James Harden has struggled against the Heat without Joel Embiid now that he is being called upon to lead a team on his back at this age. Khris Middleton is only called upon to be the number one on a last-second shot. The Boston Celtics go quarter-long stints to the entire game, sometimes with Brown as the one.

Jaylen Brown has the ability to play up to his first option’s level whether Jayson Tatum plays or not. The Celtics duo led the league in 30-point outings in the same game, and both are in the top-15 for 30-point games this season. In five games without Tatum, Brown has averaged 30.4 points and ten rebounds a game. Small sample size, but that would land someone big money and the keys to a franchise.

Brown has the ability to perfectly mimic Tatum’s game with the elite three-level scoring and above-average playmaking. This ability allows the team to stay afloat while Tatum gets to rest and plays efficient minutes. NBA’s Best Robin is roughly 90% of his Batman, an excellent thing for this Boston team.

Unshakeable Consistency

Brown laid an egg during game one of the Celtics and Bucks series. Even the NBA’s Best Robin cannot avoid having a bad game now and then, but that’s where it stops. Jaylen Brown has not had a line of bad games all season. Brown did not have back-to-back games of single digits points. Brown also recorded 20+ points in 46 of his 66 games this season. Middleton is widely regarded as someone with inconsistent play on a night-to-night basis. James Harden hasn’t dropped a 40-point game all season and has yet to pull this Sixers team together on his own.

Kyrie Irving did quite the opposite of Brown. Irving had a fantastic outing in Boston for game one, then disappeared for the rest of the series. Brown had his bad game and immediately stepped up for his team. Leading the team with 30 points, the night’s highlight was putting Grayson Allen on his behind and then nailing a jumper. The NBA’s Best Robin Material is the ability to not fall into a slump and lead your team to a huge playoff win.
